Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

Ok the good thing is the poo is starting to firm up. I’m assuming your not giving him anything else other than the GI food. Personally I would either ring and speak to your vet or take Hugo back in. Obviously I don’t know the shade of green but it could be caused by bile not being reabsorbed so it makes the poop green. It can be caused by colitis which I’m sure you know is inflammation of the large intestine. There is a chance Hugo could have colitis as you did mention blood in his poo. Was there mucus stuff too ? I’ve experience with colitis. Murphy had it hence my neurosis of diarrhoea. Antibiotics will clear it up but because he’s so young and because of the colour I’d go back. No offence to the receptionist I’m sure she’s lovely but I‘d want a vets opinion if it’s still going on. Wow the conversations our dogs make us have. Oh by the way I’m also neurotic about bladder infections thanks to Scott and Scout. There’s really no hope for me.;)
Yes that’s correct, only giving the GI food. There was blood in his poo yes, with mucus, but there hasn’t been any mucus since three days ago. I have a dark green plop of poo outside I am happy to take a photo of I just don’t want to ick people out 😅 but it’s a dark army green colour. He just napped for an hour and a half, up for a pee and food and now napping again…

I called the vet again and they want to see him this evening so in five hours we will head there, ugh such a long wait 😭

Hugo tries so hard to get Gizmo to play but Gizmo has zero interest in that. You can hear him hissing in this first video. That being said though, the last two days we have made great progress with him accepting that maybe this little brown thing is here to stay. Gizmo now tolerates a couple seconds of sniffing nose to nose. Hugo licked Gizmos bum and Gizmo looked absolutely disturbed :cwl:wish I had gotten that on video. Gizmo also spends more time out of his bedroom, walking around, sleeping on my lap while Hugo is on the floor, etc. Just now Gizmo even joined us on the couch for a cuddle, which truly didn’t last long as dear Hugo got a little excited but it’s great progress I think 🥰

YIPPEE. Brilliant. There’s nothing like that first solid poo after they’ve had a dodgy stomach:rofl:
The absolute best! After seeing the vet tonight we decided to transition back to the breeders food while he’s still on the antibiotics as we know he did well on that food, and then the antibiotics should help the transition. So tomorrow morning it may be dodgy again unfortunately but hopefully not near as bad considering he’s used to that food 🤞

I think that’s a very good plan @Kelsey&Axel. If I can make a suggestion, you’ve probably already thought of it and remember I am neurotic, I use part of the daily food ration as treats for quite awhile to begin with. It might seem boring but the puppy doesn’t care to them it’s a treat whatever it is going in their mouth. I stuff kongs with soaked kibble for chews, you can even smear soggy kibble onto a licky mat. In fact I might sound like the meanest dog owner but I always mainly use kibble as treats with something special as a jackpot reward. Murphy’s tummy was so touchy as he got older anything could set it off so I stuck to food that suited him and that’s how I’ve continued with all my dogs. It also helps maintain a good weight. Wow I am neurotic and mean my poor dogs.

Nooo, not mean at all! That’s actually what I did with his kibble tonight, I used them as training treats, and what I’ll be doing for as long as I can get away with it now too, because now I’m really nervous to add new food in until he’s much bigger. I’ll also be taking advantage of kibble soaked stuffed kongs too once he’s past this tummy issue. I stuffed and froze one yesterday with the canned GI food, he loved that! I’ll buy canned pumpkin and use that also. I have a couple toys too that I can add kibble to and he has to fiddle with them to get treats out. Basically I tried to be prepared for the crocopup stage, anything that will keep him happy and busy for a little bit and not chomping on me 😆
