Hattie at the Vet ;( ;(

It might not be the car trip. Don’t feel bad, Helen!

The times when I have had issues were, for example, when the doggie had done a lot of extra exercise (eg a day of Flyball) or had got wet and cold the previous day and then on a long car trip didn’t move much. Had some muscle soreness after that kind of situation. So, not the car trip alone.

Try not to worry too much Helen... Remember in the summer, when Merlin couldn’t put any weight at all on his hind leg and I panicked and assumed it was his hip? It turned out he had an abscess in his paw... I hope Hattie is feeling better today, and that rest and metacam do the trick. Xxx

Oh, poor Hattie. Hopefully just a bit of stiffness from the holiday zoomies followed by a bit of inactivity. It could just be like when we over-exert ourselves but don't feel stiff until the next day. It's calls DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and isn't anything to worry about. I hope it's just that and she's back to normal really quickly.

@Atemas Please don't worry you didn't upset me at all, it's just me being soppy worry wart, something I need training for! :oops:

@Cath Thanks for asking. x

Thank you all for your thoughts. I think you are right the car journey may well have been the cause. She has had one dose of Metacam with her dinner last night and today she is weighbearing, such a relief. She is having another days rest, a vet check tomorrow and I really hope she will be back to normal xxx :)

Just caught up on poor Hattie's leg. Glad she's improved today after rest and the metacam. Hopefully it was just muscular and she'll be fine in another day or two. Fingers crossed the vet agrees tomorrow.:heart:

Just got back from the vets, luckily I saw my usual fantastic lady. It was not the car journey or her hips or knees. It is a cyst on your back paw :cry: She's not sure if a foreign body maybe a grass seed or something was in there but she couldn't see or feel anything. The vet on Tuesday didn't see anything on her feet and she checked thoroughly, it must have been brewing. She hasn't been licking it either which would have been an indicator. Emma manipulated Hattie's leg, no issues at all she worked her way down to her foot and in amongst her fur was a very large puss filled cyst on top that goes between her toes and underneath her paw. She said Hattie was weightbearing but the Metacam was masking the pain as she has been walking fine. The vet put a needle in it and squeezed the puss out, Hattie was an absolute angel, not a peep or movement from her throughout, bless her. She is on antibiotics for 5 days, metacam once a day, salt and bicarb foot soaks 3 x day, no walks and back next Tuesday. My poor girl :cry::cry:
