Hattie's Tripping and Wobbliness

I know nothing about renal diets. But in terms of chews, can she eat raw veg? Snowie loves raw carrots and cucumbers. Sometimes raw brocolli and cauliflower including the stems of both.

I was going to suggest Yaks Milk chews, but they've probably got phosphorous in. What about @MF suggestion, if Hattie likes veg then maybe you could put some in a Kong with some gravy or stock to flavour it for her?

As my dad is on dialysis, he has gone through periods of having a very low potassium and phosphorus diet. For phosphorus, he took a binder tablet with his meals to help mitigate against some of the phosphorus getting into his blood- is there a doggie version maybe?
To reduce potassium, some food can be cooked twice to remove a lot of it, for example potatoes, we would boil for 5 minutes, rinse, and reboil in fresh water, same with lots of other fruit and veggies. Maybe you could make some homemade veggie treats for her, which have been leached first and then baked in the oven so that they have a bit of crunch? Obviously worth researching first, I'm just making a direct human comparison here.

Oh I don't know Natalie, the vet didn't say anything about a binder tablet but maybe the renal kibble has everything necessary for her. I will research your suggestions too. Thank you. Hope your Dad is feeling better. xx

Hattie has been tripping up a lot during our walks for a long time, this can be anything from 2 and the worst was 14 times. Sometimes she falls severely and really has to try hard not to fall over. However today she tripped and fell over and hit her face on the ground. She seemed a little shaken up so we waited for a few minutes whilst I hugged her then moved on. It was very upsetting for me :'( The vet asked me to keep a daily log which I will show her when we go back for Hattie's kidney function follow up appointment at the end of this month. Nobody seems to know what could be causing this and my worst fear is this tripping up is neurological. I am so very worried about her. xx:'(:'(

So sorry you’re having this terribly stressful experience.

Is the vet investigating neurological causes?
No, she's not Rachael. I suggested it as a possible cause and she said it's possible but didn't elaborate, only to say that Hattie would need an MRI scan and at her age it could be risky. I am going to talk more with her during our appointment. xx

Poor Hattie - I'm sorry, this must be so upsetting and scary for you both. I hope your vet can help get to the bottom of things.
