Well no breakfast today my sweet boy. He knew straight away. I was a complete mess when I left him for his operation . I promised him no more major operations and here we are again. We will hear at 4 when we can fetch him. Feel like pants putting him through this again. I know it is for the best.
So sorry I am late to seeing this @Loraseal - I am pleased you are out the other side - onwards and upwards :hug::hug:

edit: just seen your last post - gosh that’s hard - hope he settles today - guess It will take time

Sending hugs  Lets hope he settles today, can you not put a blanket down in the garden and see if he will lay on that.
If not give the vet a ring and see what they say @Loraseal

So sorry to hear he’s not happy. I guess to be expected. It was a big op. He probably doesn’t know what to do with himself. Can you ask the vet to prescribe stronger pain meds?

Snowie always takes about 24 hours to go back to normal after a GA. And I find that licking something is calming. Like peanut butter smeared inside a bowl.

Good luck. The worst is hopefully over. xxx

He is a nightmare and is refusing to lie down. All night. Wants to lie in the garden soil when I take him for a walk. Constantly panting. Puppy Hunter was much better at relaxing and resting. He has had a drink. He just stands and won't lie down.
Oh this is hard for you. What a tough night. I guess adult Hunter will have had a bigger dose of anesthetic so might be feeling the effects more - I remember finding it very upsetting with Kipper but I hope that, for them, it’s more disorientating than anything else. Having a drink is a good thing, as is lying on the garden soil. If he wants to do that, can you let him? Just until the GA completely wears off? I hope he finds it a bit easier soon x

I can't let his bandage get wet so he can't lie on the soil. Going to ring the vet when it opens. Maybe I can get something to calm him down.
Really sensible, good luck. I guess maybe he might lie on a yoga mat or something with a plastic backing outside, if that’s the only place he settles but needs to keep dry?

So glad Hunter's op went well but sorry you're having such a distressing recovery with your dear boy. I hope he starts to relax and sleep properly as the day goes on. x

I got him in our bedroom and he lay down. Our room is much cooler so I will leave him there. The GA takes him at least 48 hours to work through his system. He just had a huge wee in the street. He does not like to wee or poop in the garden. He is finally resting. Poop wil be interesting as he is very choosy as to where ! I think he just worked out how to get comfy. Vet says to keep an eye on him. If he's still standing by lunch I would have to bring him in to be checked. He is more relaxed now. So hopefully things will get better. Thank you for all your support x

I’m glad that he has settled in your room. Harley wanted to be on cool grass / vinyl flooring as she was hot and panting. It took about 2-3 days of her struggling to find how to go to the toilet, how to sit and how to lie down. I think this was the hardest part of it u til she decided that walking alone was easy!!
Sending you hugs and gentle tummy rubs to Hunter.
