Sorry for being AWOL. Unfortunately I went down with pneumonia and am only just feeling a bit human again.
Harley is in antibiotics for 6 weeks to try and get rid of it. If it doesn’t go they will have to remove the plate. The swelling has gone down quite a bit, but is still there. It’s no longer weeping so that’s good.
We are allowed 2 x 15 min walks a day to try and build up her fitness, but she is struggling with just one. She doesn’t like walking in concrete and much prefers grass even over wooded areas. She has become even more clingy than normal. We’ve got a check up in 3 weeks to see how she’s doing.

@Naya, I am so sorry to read you have had pneumonia, it sounded horrid and what with the worry of Harley on top, you must feel so low. However, there are encouraging signs if the swelling has gone down and no longer weeping. Poor little girl, lets hope that it will all be over soon x

Wowsers @Naya , what a brutal shift you're putting in a the moment. Just imagine how easy it will all feel when you and Harley are back fighting fit. I really hope the antibiotics kick in for Harley. It's pretty exhausting fighting off infection (as you know!) so it must be sapping a lot of her energy. It's promising that the weeping has stopped and the inflammation's reducing, all crossed that it keeps improving for her.

Is it possible to get her to a grassy walk once a day or is that tricky? It sounds like she just needs exactly what she wants at the moment, if that's possible - even 5 mins to sniff and feel the grass. The fitness will come once the infection clears, so don't worry if she's not keen to do much for now.

I’m driving to the local park every day so we can have a mooch. Some days we meet with my dog Walker and a few of his oldies which is great as they all have sniffs and mooch gently. I’m letting her do as much / little as she feels like each day 😊
