A few mishaps here this week. My OH left the baby gate open when he went to answer the door and she ran through and jumped down the step and landed awkwardly. She wouldnt weight bear and held her leg up staring at it. I ended up giving her paracetamol and later some metacam which helped. She was restless the next morning but was weight bearing a bit. We stayed home for a few days and no walks which she wasn’t happy with.
By Wednesday she was feeling better and walking ok so we went back to the park. Had a very small mooch about them led down. A small dog ran towards us barking so I called to the owner to call his dog back. I have never heard such a feeble attempt before! His dog of course ignored him and reached us. Harley was growling and I had to keep blocking her from the little dog. A woman came over and helped and told the other owner off - he basically shrugged his shoulders and walked off 😡
Thursday we went back and bumped into my dog walkers wife with a few of the older dogs they walk. They sat with us for 15 mins and it was so cute seeing the other dogs sniff Harley and give her licks. Then they all led down near her. It was adorable. I never thought she would ever be comfortable with a Jack Russell, a small brown / white mixed breed dog (reminded me of Nelly @kateincornwall ) and a husky cross! Today has been a chill day for her as it’s too hot to go out. Luckily she’s been ok so far.

They do know how to throw curve balls at us! Glad to know it was only a few days of no walks. It's really hot here today as well. Sorry about the stupid dog owner in the park. It sounds like her progress is going really well. Baby steps x

That’sa tough few days @Naya , you handled it all as well as you could - and her dog gang sounds so sweet. I love how gentle her friends are x

Harley has woken up with a very swollen back leg (the one that was operated on) and she is weeping fluid from her front paw too. She’s struggling to walk and have a wee / poo. We are off to the vets in 20 mins.
Poor Harley, I’m glad you have an appointment so quickly. Best of luck and keep us posted xxxx

Harley has a severe infection and has a temperature. Her leg is very hot. They’ve given her an antibiotic and painkiller injections. We’ve got painkillers, metacam and antibiotics to give her too. They are calling the surgeon today and they may want to see her. She can’t weight bear and her leg is double the size of what it usually is. She’s very clingy, wanting to follow every time I move, so I’ve taken the day off and handed the reigns to my team so I can be with Harley. This is so hard. She turns 11 tomorrow.
