Introducing Jacob

Haha, I slept a few nights next to Squidge’s pen on a dog bed, too! Whatever works :D
I'm not sure it will work for more than one night, I may get the blow up bed out to I'm not sure if it'll work for more than one night, i.might get the blow up bed out tonight. The idea of taking him upstairs for a few nights is not going to work, there's no way at all he would stay in a box ( he'd tip it over) or a fabric crate( he'd scratch at it ) plus think it's good to give Monty a proper break from puppy. Monty is so very very good with him , perhaps a bit reluctantly, I want to give him space to rest too

How is your OH @Natalie ?
Maybe he is going to benefit from the big bed on his own for a day or two before everyone joins him :cwl:
He's a bit better but not great, there's still a red patch on inflammation/ infection around the puncture wound, though smaller than it was last Friday/ Saturday. It's still really painful, though probably not surprising if a large nail tears straight into a muscle. The ABs (amoxiclav) are making him feel a bit crap still, nausea, etc, and he's not eating until late lunchtime as he can't face it. If he's still in lots of pain by Friday, I'll get a gp appt as maybe he will need another course.
I am trying to get him to rest a bit. The garden situation isn't ideal but is manageable.

You'll work it out, I'm sure. Squidge was a nightmare in her pen; once I was in Cornwall and I got her in a crate in my bedroom, she was SO much better. Of course, by then we'd done a fair bit of crate training, so she was happy in it overnight. The first while is just all about working out what works best for you and this new puppy in combination. There is no one right answer; you just muddle through until you get the right fit :)

@Natalie Remember Reuben in my undies drawer under the bed ? I say go with whatever gives him comfort and take naps when he does during the day, it will all sort its self out , honestly it will xx
I agree. Give him comfort and yourself as much sleep as you can xx

And remember, getting a new pup is great fun - and it’s also a shock to the system! Be kind to yourself.

:heart::heart:

Can I just check a few things with the puppy experts. Four poos in five hours ok? Two a little soft, two quite firm? All on the grass outside 👍
He's had hiccups four times now, they go in a minute or so, can't ever remember Monty getting them

Hiccups are usually fine some are worse than others. keep an eye on him he's just a bit stressed so his poos might be a bit squishy. He might do more because he's excited worried. Just let him settle a bit it's all new. Just try and relax a bit if things get worse speak to a vet or the breeder. Keep to his normal feeding regime.

Maybe a little too much food or just the settling in ? Nothing to fret about at all . Reubs had hiccups a lot , par for the course xx
