Our journey to Preston is over an hour away - it’s worth it!It’s over an hour away
the inevitable Pongo-wallow, you can imagine can't you)
I fell over in the snow, husband disappeared off with the car and I walked the dogs for an hour! Thought I had broken it, met a vet while walking and she confirmed my self diagnosis. So girls born in the shadow of the hills and not far from Wales inherit the toughnessShe is already back on facebook joking about it. Good lord, they make 'em tough here in Wales.
Mine is neoprene - I really like it, it’s wipe clean. What sort of trailing line are you using, Mags? At the moment I'm borrowing different ones to see which work best with the 42kg semi-controlled missile that is the Pongster in full scent-pursuit...
Thanks. I'm in conversation with Santa.Mine is neoprene - I really like it, it’s wipe clean.
Five metres - which I find perfectly long enough.
No - once you’ve cued ‘sniff’ then ‘trail’ you wait! She’s certainly happy to find her quarry! Lovely to see. But why the long wait to start? Are you not allowed to egg her on?
Yes, the sniff article is something the person has worn recently, like a hat or scarf. It looks so cool, I'll have to have a go at it with my lot next year. So are they following the scent of the person? Is that what the sniff article is?
The group I go with in Monmouthshire vary it between urban, forest, hillsides, moors, fields, industrial....anything you can imagine. I thought Pongo would be hugely distracted, but once he locks onto a trail he is absolutely single minded! You have to be very patient don't you - I can imagine me wanting to make encouraging noises or giving a clue! Do they choose a housing estate because there aren't the distraction of wildlife scents that there might be in a forest?
