Maxx is sick

So sorry, Robyn. I hope you’re now at the hospital and Maxx is getting the best care possible. Thinking of you and sending lots of lambies :thelambiesarecoming: .

We ended up going early, he was going downhill before our eyes. I went in crying to tell them he was in the car and very sick and the vet came straight out. We manged to get him out of the car and he was able to walk into the surgery but then collapsed on the ground. She said it could be poison or a twisted gut so they are putting him straight onto fluids and antibiotics. They will try and squeeze an ultrasound in today but at worst tomorrow

He wouldn't eat and kept putting his face in his water bowl but couldn't drink. With all the vomiting and diarrhea he must be so dehyrdrated

Thank you for the lambies and love, he is now in good hands and I know they will make him better

His tummy looked fine but he was panting and pacing. All three of us no sleep so he would have been exhausted on top of everything

They just rang to say the blood tests indicate a bad infection so that is actually good news as poison was on the cards. Hopefully a couple of days of fluids and anti-biotics will make him better. She said possbily he inhaled some vomit and it caused an infection. He was really quite ok at the vets yesterday, still hungry and bouncy. I can't believe how quickly he deteriorated

So glad the tests came back with an answer, it’s always so hard when there is a guessing game happening. He should be feeling better soon thank goodness   Love and hugs to you all

How scary for you and Steve, Robyn. And quick action from you both, Maxx is in the best possible hands and as @Kelsey says, now everyone knows what it is they’ll be working on the best treatment. As you say, hopefully the right antibiotics plus top notch care will have him feeling better very soon. Poor baby Maxx - sending you all heaps of love xxxxxx

I’m so sorry to read this. Poor Maxx. And poor you and Steve, the worrying on top of exhaustion is just awful. I’m sure he’s feeling better already with the fluids they gave him. Hopefully it will be sorted out quickly. Thinking of you all. xxx

Thank you everyone. The vet rang again just after lunch (about 3 hours ago) to say he lifted his head and looked at her when she walked past the cage. She said that is a very good sign, especially as he was just coming out of the anaesthetic from the x-ray and ultrasound. Now waiting for the final call to see if we can go and get him or whether he has to stay overnight. And if yes to overnight whether he stays at their hospital which has limited overnight supervision or whether they will transport him to the emergency 24 hour hospital

@Lab_adore oh goodness I’ve just caught up on Max. The last time I looked it was “just” an upset tummy. How unbelievably scary for you all. I’m so glad the vet was able to help so quickly even though it must have seemed like forever to you. I hope Max got home last night and starts feeling better quickly.

The first thing I did this morning after letting Joy into the garden was to check for news on Maxx.
How awful for him and both of you for him to be so very poorly. It sounds as though he's in good hands though, and making steps in the right direction. Well done for getting him there quickly, I'm still thinking about you and sending more :thelambiesarecoming: :thelambiesarecoming::thelambiesarecoming::thelambiesarecoming::thelambiesarecoming:and:hug::hug::hug:

They finally rang, he has eaten a little bit of food and kept it down and done a wee so things are really looking up. They are keeping him overnight on "full observation" so we are happy that they will be looking after him so well.

He is still on the drip so getting lots of fluids and antibiotics

I don't know what we would do without you all, thank you ❤
