I'm late responding to this, but good news @karen and hats off to you for managing to keep him so slim, he looks stunning. I know all about that hip swing

Today we had a visit from the physiotherapist, and she was very complimentary about Merlin - she was delighted with him! She says he is walking completely normally, with no odd gait at all that she, as a professional, can see. He is incredibly muscly and strong, and when she massaged his back (yes this dog gets treated like some sort of superstar) she said there was no tightness in his muscles that she could discern, and no tenderness around his hip joints. I am so happy, it's wonderful to get the confirmation that he is doing really well at this point in time, I mean I knew that anyway, but it is super to hear it from her as well. One very happy labby here, and a very happy doggy mum too.

@MellowYellow, that is good news. It reminded me of local farmer who has 4 beautiful Yellow Labs he works. The last one he bred himself (well you know what I mean!) and the pup he kept turned out to have hip dysplasia, bad news. However, with exercise she is now well muscled up and her pips have significantly improved, she now works two or three times a week. So there is hope

@MellowYellow fantastic news and thank you for sharing and letting us know that there is always a path forward when our dog's health is not as expected. In the New Year we will start hydrotherapy and get working on Hunter's "dodgy doggie" gait!! All your hard work (and Merlin's) is now paying off. Gorgeous photo of Poppy and Merlin.
