Muck Boots Wellie Review

OH and I got a pair of Muck Boots each during the last sale publicized on this forum because they were tuppence ha’penny :) and were saying just the other day how much we love them! I’ve got the shorter coolmax (?) jobs and they’ve been excellent in this filthy weather. Heavier than I’m used to, but good and solid, comfy, lots of support with better grips than I’ve ever had in a welly (and I’ve had a LOT of wellies). I was a bit worried the neoprene would make them tricky to pull off, but not a bit of it. In short, horses for courses but I’d say they’d make a great Christmas present!

I’m not that bothered by the grip as the majority of our walks are through muddy fields but with flat terrain so grip isn’t an issue. At the moment I’m using my hiking boots which take forever to dry when it’s been raining so im hoping anything is an improvement!

Update:

They leak, they have split on the back of the heal so let a lot of water in, soaking foot :( I have contacted Muck Boots with my complaint, had a reply, template to document and send photographic evidence. Not impressed so hoping I get my money back. xx

That's unfortunate and a flippin' nuisance. I am so far pleased with my Christmas pressy ones except the back of my ankles can be tender sometimes and the rubber back of the boot ends and creases just where it hurts me. Can be really uncomfortable until I have worn them a while and used to them. I would get a different design next time, saying that though, they are warm, grippy and waterproof.

It is a pain as I only have these with me in Scotland and it's raining! Maybe I am dodgy on my pins or it's the rough terrain here but I slip and slide all over the place in them, the grip is awful. I feel very insecure wearing them. Never again! Going back to Aigles can't beat them. x

I still swear by my £10 Dunlop boots form Homebase 15+ years ago with extra insoles added. As comfy as a boot in muck and have lasted, and lasted, and lasted ...
David does this, but I think you might find the latest versions are not that good, he gets about 2 years out of a pair now :( x

I have given up on wellies, especially when walking on uneven, wet terrain. A good pair of water proof walking boots with gaiters works really well! :)
A good idea but I am wading through rivers and streams. Are they tall boots Kate? x

I have friends who have had Muck Boots and they say the same, no grip. I agree Aigles are excellent and each pair I have last for years.

I feel as though it’s starting to make sense why I don’t really enjoy walking Stanley in the winter.. I don’t have any of the fancy gear you lot have 🙈
We're the only ones, I think! I keep resisting any sort of Wellies because I just don't believe in mud. If there's mud, I just don't want to walk there. I'll happily walk in rain (well, more happily than Carbon at any rate) but it better be on sand or pavement. All my shoes are waterproof, just not Wellie type.

However, considering all the lovely people I visit in the UK seem to have an obsession with walking in mud and trees, I have resigned myself to securing a comfy pair of Wellies before my winter stay in Cornwall. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em? :D

There are many different muck boots with different tread patterns. Ones with the good walking treads are the Muck Master and Woody Max. I've done greasy rock, steep muddy slopes and all sorts in them with no problems.
Yep mine have been great best and most comfortable boots I've used so far. I've done a lot of off road walking and I not fallen as much as I used too. Any problems I've had they just sent me another pair of boots. My Dunlop's only last a few months because I really hammer my boots
