My sweet Axel

Oh no! That's awful! Also so unfair for your poor boy and you. Can they not suggest anywhere else that you could take him? As his vets, don't they have a Duty of Care, where if they are not able to provide it they can at least point you towards an alternative?
Thinking of you both, so very hard for you.
I had three different vet clinics trying to figure something out thankfully ❤ The problem is that we are so short staffed, IV contrast is severely back ordered, and it’s a long weekend :(

But an update!! After many phone calls between vets and myself, and one vet clinic giving IV contrast to another vet as the clinic had none and won’t for a couple weeks… Axel will be getting his CT scan now on Tuesday. So 3.5 more days to go but least much better than Thursday, and his fentanyl patch should still be helping him to get through this. So if all goes as I hope it does, Tuesday it is.

Otherwise the alternative was a 5 hour drive to Vancouver to get a scan done mid week, which would be excruciating pain in the car that long so I’m thankful two vets in my town are working together for my baby boy ❤❤❤

I'm so sorry this is such a roller-coaster. We're all here with you though so lean on us as much as you need x

It really is such a roller coaster 😪 My emotions go from hating the world to being so heart broken my chest hurts, just keeps going in circles

Axel is home and resting, he gobbled up his dinner very excitedly. I hand feed him as that’s the easiest for him these days.

You are doing all you can Kelsie, well done. Axel looks very comfy, and it’s a good sign he’s enjoying his dinner. Please go gentle with yourself. You need your energy and strength, so it’s really important you look after yourself as much as possible and keep doing the simple stuff - fueling and resting when you can. You’re doing so well x

Thank you, tonight it hit me how drained I really am. Been sleeping on my uncomfortable couch for a week to be close to him as he can’t jump on my bed anymore. I average a very broken up, 4 hours of sleep. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. But it’s true, I need to rest when I can. I called in for work tomorrow to stay home with him and rest ❤

I’m so sorry for your experience, what a rollercoaster. At least the scan is on Tuesday. You’ve really moved mountains to get all this in place.

Is there a reason why Axel must wear a cone? I’d imagine he’d be more comfy without it? If it’s to prevent getting to stitches, perhaps you can just watch him and stop him if he tries?

Thinking of you both xxx

Just devastated for you. What you are going through is simply awful. Axel is in the best place, especially with the pain control. Great that he is really enjoying his food. Gentle hugs from me and Bramble
