It certainly sounds possible doesn't it, especially since it sounds very hard to identify. Is your appointment tomorrow? it would be worth sending them this ahead, or at least asking if they can rule it out. Also might be worth asking about ultrasound if you haven't discussed it already. Really hoping you get some answers tomorrow Kelsey, and that Axel can be made more comfortable and helped for the longer term xI don’t know why I never just looked up swollen shoulders in dogs before. But this website is the first thing that popped up… and it sounds pretty fitting.

My dog has a sore shoulder: what can it be? - Cottage Vet Clinic
Many conditions can affect a dog’s shoulder but injuries, in particular, can be very difficult to diagnose and treat. The most common injury to a dog’s shoulder involves the biceps...www.cottagevet.co.za
It’s thanksgiving Monday today so my regular vets are closed. But I’ll definitely be calling them tomorrow while Axel is at another vet for his CT. I did inquire about an ultrasound, but it was a long wait to get in for that as well, and they said Ct would give me the best answer so just to wait it out. Just who know the Ct was going to be put off because it broke. Just so much bad luckIt certainly sounds possible doesn't it, especially since it sounds very hard to identify. Is there an emergency vet who you can ring? You really shouldn't be having to go through this without advice and support, it's heartbreaking. Now I’m worried because he’s not cryinghe’s just been sleeping and sleeping and sleeping. The odd cries that only last a couple minutes. Turning his nose up to food. Ugh
now I’m scared he’s going to slip away on me before the scan
I’ve just spoke with my friend who used to work at a vet. She thinks it’s probably the fact that the fentanyl patches have officially kicked in so he’s finally catching up on rest, and he’s feeling off because of all the meds. She thinks I over did the wet food last night as he had very bad diarrhea in the night and this morning wasn’t great yet either. So turning up food cuz his tummy is off still. Is there an emergency vet who you can ring? You really shouldn't be having to go through this without advice and support, it's heartbreaking.![]()
Do you think I should wait a couple hours before giving wet food in water? I’m worried of dehydrationWhat your friend says makes sense. A combination of the patch kicking in and diarrhoea - he’s going to want to rest/sleep and not eat. Hang on in there and stay strong for your boy![]()

I’m not sure I can answer that question @Kelsey&Axel - possibly your friend is the person to ask for a quick answer. I’d hate to say the wrong thing.Do you think I should wait a couple hours before giving wet food in water?
She said to try so I did and he drank it up. I’ll try some more in a bit again.I’m not sure I can answer that question @Kelsey&Axel - possibly your friend is the person to ask for a quick answer. I’d hate to say the wrong thing.![]()
He has peed twice today so that is good. I tried even chicken broth in water but that didn’t do it. He did like the wet food in the water though. I’m going to see how it sits and then do more in a bit. Harder than kibble cuz kibble I can hand feed while he lays down, so limited pain. But the messy slop he wants to stand and it’s very painfulHas he peed today Kelsey?
Not use how useful that is to know with our dogs though I know Lilly has camel like bladder control....
Could you try something like tuna flakes in a little water?
Answers will be earliest WednesdayHope you both get rest tonight. Such a hard and exhausting ordeal. Really hoping that you get some answers tomorrow.![]()
