Dusted off the Nina Ottosson game we have. The dogs love it! Got to River, she managed a beautiful sit and wait, gave her the release cue, she promptly grabbed one of the bricks and raced gleefully outside with it....
It took Kipper a couple of rounds before this wasn't the most exciting thing :D <<calm voice>> that's lovely, well done. Now, can you show me where the treats are? yes, we can put that down for now, nobody's going to take it away...

I would love to try these with Simba, but honestly, not sure if he’s quite up to the challenge. :cheeky: The only game-type thing he has is the Kong wobbler, and he actually gives up once it gets too hard (not many kibble left) and actually walks away with kibble left in it. So I don’t know if he’d be persistent enough to try to work these out🤷‍♀️

I get this entirely; Kipper now just occasionally carries the Kong Wobbler around and then drops it looking disappointed.
The level 1 games are basic, it’s just like cups (I.e. 3 inverted cups, treat under 1) but lasts longer. I reckon Simba would get it - whether it’d be entertaining enough is another matter!

How durable are these toys?
They're fairly robust plastic, but they are hollow with edges - so could be chewed if a dog got going. Kipper clanks them around his teeth and after a few robust sessions there are some small tooth marks, but unless I left him alone to go to town, I'm anticipating they'll last a fair while.

Well the first toy was such a success, we’ve leveled up to ‘intermediate’ with the brick toy. And blow me down with a feather, Kipper has understood it very quickly! We play with them as part of our evening calm games, and he’s a big fan. I really thought this might be a bit tricky, but happily no. Great success :rock:8F1F1F8E-0C3D-49F5-B2BA-FFE6D4C10951.jpeg

It's interesting Harriet @HAH , does it take him long to do them? And does he do them more quickly once he knows how to do them?

I often find with Cassie the more mental activity I give her to do (like doing a few more difficult retrieves when we are out) the more she's looking for things to do and can become quite inventive in the house!

Perhaps some of these would be good to have through the winter evenings.

I know what you mean about Cassie’s inventiveness - this is similar with Kipper but I think he becomes more precise in his movements, rather than discovering new levels of mischief!
We probably take 15-20 mins to do 3 rounds of these games. With the new one I started relatively easy (just put treats under the bones) and was expecting to not do much more, but he was very quick to catch on with the slidey pieces and the flip tops. I do like to instill a bit of ‘slowing down’ theatre around them - so Kipper will lie down on the rug, I turn around and fill the game with treats fairly deliberately, then I’ll put it next to him with a ‘there you go!’ and he’s away. I also supervise closely because a) at the moment I don’t know if/what he’s likely to try and chew [he worked out how to take the little flip covers off very quickly!] and b) I like to give encouragement and a bit of direction to help slow him down and think it through.
He is a bit quicker with the other game now he’s familiar, but more noticeably he’s better at it - more precise and accurate in his movements. I’m hoping with a few games to rotate through, this will keep him entertained for some time. I do think it’s the interaction and treats that make it fun as much as anything.

Primrose got our game much faster than Quinn - you can see their personalities in their approaches. Primrose smashes it, is so rough but got the concept and used her paws more. Quinn was pensive, gentle her first few goes and reluctant to use too much pressure and used her nose more!

It must be so interesting to have two pups with such different personalities
