The anaesthetic seems to upset them more than the op. Good news he doesn't have to wear a cone, it must be such a relief to have him home.

Glad he's OK, home safe with you and no cone needed. Hope he recovers from the anaesthetic soon, Solstice cried for four whole days after her cruciate ligament surgery whereas little GGJ never makes as much as a squeak after anaesthetic.

Anesthetic causes Hunter to act quite crazy and he finds it quite hard to settle and cries a lot.

It's funny Rory didnt have the usual pain relief this time after his op just methadone. Initially he was very screamy and upset, but as soon as he saw me he was fine. His recovery has been a lot better this time. He was sleeping well and much happier. I think this was a much better easier way for Rory. He recovered really well.

Interesting all the responses to anesthetic and pain meds. Snowie has been extremely vocal since coming home. Mostly whining sounds, but for everything, even when he was scratching his cheek he made the most awful sound. So I went to scratch his cheek and he made the same sound!

The wound is actually much bigger than I realised. I was looking at the wrong thing initially! I’ve had a good inspection and it looks sore. And it’s bleeding. If it continues to bleed I must take him back—instructions are in the printout that I was given on discharge. Snowie might need a cone... he’s been licking, but I think just to clean up the area cos blood had leaked out from before we’d picked him up, which I’d noticed when he was in the car.

We did a short walk now—not his usual long afternoon walk, he’s meant to be on restricted exercise for 3 days. Made too very stinky soft poos. Didn’t fuss that he couldn’t go in the pond, seems to accept the net as a barrier. Has had his dinner and is now lying down and softly whimpering. Heart breaking. I keep telling he’s a good boy and other coochycoo words of comfort.

I wouldn't even walk him he will open the wound if he stretches it. A short trip to the garden nothing more. I didn't exercise Rory at all for the first 3 days. He did bleed when he came home so I let him stay still rest and relax. It stopped when he relaxed and was ok. If the wound stays still it settles better bleeding areas clot and healing starts. I just stay with mine so they don't have to wear a cone, but if I do leave the room I put a cone on. They can damage themselves quickly. I hope his bleeding settles

It’s so difficult to see them like that isn’t it? After his scans, Kipper wasn’t himself for 48 hours, we could only explain it as disorientation and confusion - lots of whistling and whining, plus not being able to settle.
I hope Snowy’s feeling better soon and his wound dries up; he’s being looked after beautifully

That is very good advice, thank you. I took Snowie for a leash walk, but he did high kicks on a patch of grass. Thinking back, that was probably not a good thing for the wound.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Cone vs post-anesthesia whining and whimpering. I think the cone wins.
