Not too bad a night , amazingly !

I really cant grumble , his bed time routine is fine , I can get about 6ish hours sleep . Only thing is that he does move about , on his bed and then into " his " drawer under the bed , where he rummages about, making a nest , not making a lot of noise but just enough to have me instantly awake thinking " what is he doing ?" ! x

Me? No, not really, …..

Cassie doesn't sleep with me, I come downstairs and make cup of tea roughly 6.45 ish, she says a sleepy good morning, declines to go out, pops into her favourite armchair and cuddles back down. Until 8 - 8.15 ish. She likes me to me about then!
But not of course, when she was 10 weeks of age!

Ahhh Big Stan thinks that’s too early to function.

He doesn’t even get slightly motivated until half 9 - 10 o clock.

On weekends he’s more a midday kinda guy 😂🙈
You are just doing this to taunt me. A sleep-in for Maxx is 5.30am - although this morning for the first time I had to wake him at 5.45am so I could get ready for work (he sleeps in front of our walk-in wardrobe). Fingers crossed he is learning to sleep in

Wispa barked just before 6am this morning, so I risked it and just popped down to tell her to go back to sleep. All is quiet, so I’m hoping it was just a passing fox who disturbed her, or maybe she had woken up and felt cold because the heating doesn’t go on until 6am (and she sleeps by the radiator). I’m hoping all is well, as I need my forum catch-up time...!

It is quite amusing, she starts off just before 8, I can hear her muttering to herself, a little squeak and a yawn. Then a slightly louder squeak and yawn, a stretch and a scratch. The squeaks increase gradually in volume, then she gets off the chair, pads across to the bottom of the stairs. Lies down with "Harumph" groan a bit, stretch a bit.... I get the message then!

Molly certainly woke early as a young puppy (5.30a.m. for a few weeks at least.) I can't remember when she started to sleep for longer but now she is a really slow starter - I'm always up before she is. She gets more active as the day goes on and is still restless in the early evenings. In the summer I quite often throw in an extra walk but now it's dark early we have playtime indoors, mostly 'tricks'.

I can only describe yesterday afternoon running through until very late , as being hell ! For some particular reason , both of them were wound up like springs and determined that the other one will not have that toy , or that toy ,or even dare to take a nap ! In the end , we intervened , Nelly ( who was instigator number one ) was removed from the floor and plonked onto the sofa whereupon she sulked big time but it worked , the beast finally gave in to rest ! Bedtime ?? At 1.a.m. I had to get up , go and fetch a bin bag and empty all the undies out of the drawer as he had been flinging them around the bedroom with joyful abandon ! Now I wonder if he was too cold ? I had the window open just a little , no radiator on and his bed is under the window , I could hear him trying to nest , so up again , to the airing cupboard for a blanket , he messed it right up and then clambered onto the bed where he fell instantly asleep , head on pillow ! Upside , he didn't wake until 7.30 this morning , and still no accidents in the bedroom but he was bursting to get outside ! Now , all is calm , both having a snooze , so am writing off yesterday , no point dwelling on it xxxx

I find it’s a good idea to separate them when they over-play. I teach ‘enough’ which means play is over. When the pups are very young I use physical barriers until they get the ‘enough’ cue. Fish cubes are the treat of choice and ‘enough’ has them both moving towards the fish cube tin. Then with baby Spencer I just popped him on the lead with a nylabone. He did tend to chew the lead so I used a rope lead just for the purpose. It worked well and he soon grew out of the lead chewing.

:)

Good advice Mags x We have also learned that separation is the key , when play becomes too wild . We have spare collars and leads , which we can have to hand if they start the rough stuff ! They did both get overtired , their eyes told the tale , shattered but wouldn't give in , as soon as we split them up, it ceased x

Amber used to get awfully tired when she was little. She and Poppy would play for hours and then Amber would get snappy and irritable. It always seems to happen just when you need a break and a rest doesn't it? It's so much worse when you are tired. I hope you can nap during the day Kate.

Thank you @Aitch , I was very tired yesterday which does make it worse, but never mind , it wont be too long now before Reuben can have walks ! It is lovely to see Nelly playing , its also reduced her OCD behaviour , she isn't chasing lights half as much now, because she has her own personal playmate ! Today they both seem quite tired , a legacy from yesterdays lunatic behaviour I suppose ! x
