Otter's Journey....

No home postal delivery here. We get our mail delivered to a community mail box. It’s right across the street from me so no big deal. No one has to walk far to get their mail. Door to door postal delivery became far too expensive to do everywhere for the gov’t. So the big cities still have it but small towns, nope.

Day 9 Post Op

Still keeping Otter on slightly stricter restriction on exercise, but more frequent toilet breaks to keep her moving. The knee still looks a little puffy, but she is extending and flexing well without any apparent discomfort, and boy I have been watching her like a hawk! Not so Benson. For the nano-second I turned by back on Otters breakfast this morning....Benson ate it! Only problem was it had Otters meds hidden inside, which included one to calm her down. That was it, Benson was out for the count! I am such a bad doggy mum...:( I felt awful..

Anyhow, Otter is at our local vets tomorrow, just for a wound check up, I will ask about the knee, and send the surgeon a photo at the same time.

The gang this morning...yes Benson is a bit dopey here! Otter is definitely having a growth spurt! I am now not so sure she is going to be a petite wee thing anymore...sigh...

No no no, that’s just balderdash. You’re an incredible doggy mum, but your babies are ravenous labbydors and there’s no getting away from it. If it had been something that would have had grave consequences for one of the others, you’d have naturally put it with Otter out of their reach. As it was, no harm done (except a more alert Otter and a more sedate Benson!).

Oh but she’s sooo mesmerising, and very fine - she’s going to be glorious if she’s leggy :inlove:

As long as Benson is fine, which he clearly is...then:

At least it wasn't Casper. Slowed down any more and he may have just taken the week off...

Love that photo, especially Otter's face. She is so smart and ready to GOOOOOO!

Speaking of which, are you ready to head off to your test this weekend? Fingers and toes crossed...and some Lambie power too! :fingers:

No, not ready at all....wish I could cancel and just spend a weekend not revising, and having a dog boarding here was tough (he went home today)

Saturday 10th August - Day 11 Post Op

OK, so today's the day - from 05:45 @Beanwood is away for 36 hours and has left ME in charge!!

No worry It's ONLY a 4 month old puppy (That's been on crate rest following surgery for the last 11 days), and three lovely labs.
How hard can it be? Oh my naivety....

By 06:15, I was ready to throw in the towel.

It became apparent VERY quickly, these are all MUMMIES dog's!!

All of the coping mechanism's I've been given (In word format - double spaced) have gone out of the window. The pupsters have NOT read the instructions, so aren't obeying the rules.

By 08:30 - having calmed MYSELF down, THEY'VE all calmed down, and things are going better.

Otter remains completely bouncy. Tigger springs to mind. All the time. Her leg is causing her no concern at all, although the swelling around the wound appears to have 'firmed up'. The scar is proud of the skin, but there's no heat. I wish I'd taken more notice whilst @Beanwood was 'in charge' so I would know if it's better/worse/the same?

By 6pm, things are calming down nicely, and whilst Benson relaxes in the kitchen crate/pen, Otter is lying on the floor is in the living room playing bitey face with Bramble very slowly and gently.

Only 24 hours to go before Rescue arrives....
