19 days Post Op
The wound looks amazing, swelling has completely resolved around the stifle joint, which is great considering all the worry this time last week. I am relieved we didn't take our local vets advice - drain and antibiotics, instead kept our nerve as per the orthodogs advice. Phew!!!
Rehab wise, we are on 10mins of lead walk twice a day. This takes AGES as Otter has discovered ripe blackberries, she carefully checks them all out and nibbles the best ones! Inside we are still using a crate, or crate pen set up, with a bit of very carefully supervised freedom in our lounge. It does seem like our house is swimming in vet bed! Literally covering every inch of our lovely wooden and tiled floors.
@Beanwood even mused the other day that it would be MUCH easier just to go back to carpet!

We do let her have a off lead freedom when she is working on scent games outside, she is so totally engrossed in those!

Part of me also thinks that the more opportunities she has to walk normally off lead the better, to allow a more natural range of movement for her joints. We also hope to start gentle rehab soon, in the next few weeks. I took Otter to Casper's rehab last week, just to start getting her comfortable again with the environment. Her natural nervousness of people has been exacerbated with all her negative experience at the vet, and kicked off with crap puppy classes. Right now I just want to go 2 weeks without a blimmin visit to the vet!!!
Medication wise she is now of Metacam, but on a single dose of meds to help calm her once daily in the morning.
Her stifle does seem a little more stable, even from a few days ago, this may be due a fairly obvious growth spurt!
