Presents from your dog

I am so lucky withHarley. She sniffs dead birds, dead foxes, dead mice and even a deer that had some bits missing, then turns her nose up and walks away.
The first dead animal she seen was a bird when she was about 6 months old. Several other dogs were rolling in it and some lickingit. She went over to investigate, sniffed and ran back to us. She then took a wide birth past it😂
Cass is much the same, she rarely bothers with stuff like that.

Ella is the same!

We'll walk by something dead and she'll show a little interest, stop for a sniff and then continue on 🤷

Maxx finds something to steal most mornings to get one or both of us out of bed. You hear the thundering, prancing movements around the house and you must get up and take it from him if you want it to live. Mostly tv remotes, shoes, clean laundry from the basket etc. If he can't find anything he will rake through the clothes beside my bed until he finds a thong (flip flop)

He is a champion ball finder on walks

Doerak our first lab brought me a living sparrow. As she was our first dog and only 5 month old I didn't know how to react...My sister was there too while she walked her Dobermann Brutus. She taught me to praise her for bringing the sparrow to me and let her hand over the living sparrow. She hold the sparrow very gently in her mouth and handed it over to me unharmed

Xena was much like Ella, Harley, and Cass - didn't care for dead things other than giving them a weary sniff. I remember an incident with a dead eel when she was somewhere between 6-12 months. It was small, and I had to stuff it into a poo bag because she would.not.leave.it.alone.

She did have a thing for tissues, paper towels etc - if there was a used one lying around it'd go straight into her tummy - she'd snaffle them off of plates, from side tables, from laps :puke:

Really no need to comment on this thread, anybody who’s walked with me and Ripple knows exactly what happens when he finds a dead thing  .
I think Bear has those genes, he's never brought us a single thing except for a tennis ball and only because he expects that to be thrown for him. On the other hand, we have found him munching on various birds and other animal carcasses, his latest find that was deep in the woods has led to him disappearing from sight for many minutes, when OH sent Monty into the depths to track him down, he was stood firmly over an adult deer carcass stripped of nearly all meat, but had to be almost dragged away from it. If he finds something good, he keeps it for himself.

Monty brings me my boots and shoes, plus empty Kongs. But this is a trick, because if you full it once, he will just redeliver the empty Kong five minutes later expecting a refill. 😁

Deer leg with hoof still attached and also vertebrae probably once belonging to sheep or deer have been contributions from GGJ. Also, like Cassie she does love to bring her toys to people.
Yes, have had those and as mentioned before on the forum he has eaten is way through a muntjac, took him over a week, I kept forgetting it was there and he was off having a munch before I could catch him up!

My first thought of this thread was that Maisy gives me a box of chocolates every Christmas.

Apart from that though, she is a typical lab toy present bringer but out of the house can sniff a ball in the bushes a mile away, how do they do that?
(not as good as Maxx though, that is impressive)
