Red is not well

She has been back on the drip for 15 minutes and given an antibiotic. We have more for a few days. Vet pleased with her but to watch out for signs of nausea. No poo 💩 yet and warned it won’t be a good one when it happens - hardly surprising. Resting now and I’ll take her for a short gentle walk later.

Do you know if she ate something she shouldn’t have?
Not to my knowledge. The vet said could be something she ate or a bug. I said I’d noticed her drinking water when swimming in the dyke and also the fields have been sprayed recently but that’s an annual thing and not affected her before.

So pleased to hear that Red is improving. Joy and I were thinking about her on our walk thismorning.
I hope she continues to get better and is soon back to her normal happy self.

Red has eaten today - small quantities of gastro food at intervals during the day but she is not drinking which is a worry. She had the IV for 15 minutes this morning at the vets but I don’t know how much she was given. We’ve tried all sorts to get her to drink but no. It’s a worry. If she doesn’t drink in the morning, I’ll have to seek advice from the emergency vet as our vets aren’t open on Saturdays. She still hasn’t had a poo either. I took her for a short walk early evening in the hope that would make her go but nothing - a few wees. She has had some very smelly wind which I assume means things are trying to work again. I’m staying with her again tonight. She is very quiet but then she is a quiet dog. She looks ok (very tired which is hardly surprising) and the vet was happy with her this morning but I am worried

The most odd night - I am sleeping downstairs near Red - we have two outdoor lights to the rear of each side of our home. I had just fallen asleep when I was aware they had come on - I looked outside and saw what appeared to be Red and thought how has she got out there? Well of course it wasn't her - it was a fox 🦊. I know we have foxes sometimes and it amazes me how high they have to jump to get in the garden. We are surrounded by high fences and a stone wall. The fence backing onto the nature reserve has a sloping grill along the top to deter deer and foxes.

The lights going on disturbed Red and she wanted to go outside. I put her lead on in case the fox was still there. It wasn’t but she knew it had been. She had a wee. Not sooner had we settled down then she needed another wee. Still no poo. Thank you @Jelinga - I put a bit of water in her gastro food and she eagerly eat it. I have to feed her little and often so I will add water each time

Good news that she’s weeing, and you’re having success with adding water to her food. Does she like milk? Or very weak chicken stock? We’ve had some success with them in the past. Kipper’s got appalling diarrhea at the moment so he and I have been up a few times in the night (and just now), we’ve been thinking of poor Red and you. Hopefully today will be a good day for you.
