Rourke is ill

I’m so sorry and sending much love to you and Rourke. It is so difficult to see our dogs in pain. Have you consulted a physiotherapist? We’re about to go that route with Snowie. Our vet recommended a physiotherapist and said that with her own tripawd she had great results.

This is hard to read, such a severe reaction, poor little Rourke. I hope the vets put some time into finding an appropriate treatment that he can tolerate.

We had similar problems with our epileptic lab BJ on long term powerful drugs. It took some time but we got the right combination in the end.

Fingers crossed for a quick recovery for Rourke - from the meds I mean.

I'm so sorry for poor Rourke and for all the extra stress on you. I hope he's at least over the stomach problems today and can come home. Do hope the vet can offer an alternative medication for his arthritis that suits him. x

I’m so sorry you and Rourke are going through this - hoping he’s more comfortable today and can come home with a good management plan x

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

Can pick him up in an hour or so, have to go to emergency vets about 7 miles away. They say the diarrhoea has stopped, but I am not convinced as my vet said that and as soon as I got him outside, it just poured out, he had no control at all. The very sad thing is he cannot take medication for his very bad arthritis, he is so lame, so the future is bleak

Sorry Rourke & you are going through such a bad time. It's horrible that the very medication that helps also cause such a problem. We struggled with this for Belle.

Hope Rourke is feeling better and the Vet and you can work out a plan for medication moving forward. Hopefully you are feeling better too and not too stressed

We’re seeing a new physio next week with Ginny, just to keep her as strong as possible. We’re very aware that her mobility is what will limit her longevity, so it’s not too dissimilar. Maybe look into acupuncture, too? I’ve never had it myself, and fall into the ”skeptic” category with things like that, but also know lots of similar stubborn skeptics - my sister included - who have had it and felt the benefit.

I’ve had acupuncture - it was amazing.

Not sure how you get a dog to lie still for it ‘tho?
