Sleep. Or lack thereof.

He came back from holiday a changed dog.

Till 2am ???

It was like something out of a horror movie... me and OH sat bolt upright with a WTF is that noise ?

It appears in his time in the kennels Mas has learnt to sing. It’s not a bark, it’s not a howl.. it’s some totally merged mixture of the two.

I ended up sleeping on the sofa last night.. the plus side is that once I was in the room he was happy enough to sleep in his crate (which previously he wouldn’t do) I snuck upstairs at 4am and he stayed asleep till 7 when I woke him! So hopefully this was more about me leaving him for 2 weeks than a new behaviour.

:cwl:That made me proper belly laugh! I was wondering this morning how you and Mas were getting on. Glad he’s learnt some Shirley Bassey impressions to add to the repertoire :)
Did you have a good holiday? I’m sure this’ll pass over quickly, just a bit of readjustment...

My night: bed at midnight. Up at 3am with Squidge crying to go out - she needed a poo. Gave her a treat when she came back in, also gave one to Willow, and to Ginny. Ginny didn’t move, or respond to being stroked, or to my voice. Panic, turned on lights, she blinked away, squinted at the light and went back to sleep. Eventually managed to drift off after the shock. 3am, electric went out; the solar batteries had depleted. Got dressed, went outside to plug inverter into generator, switched that on and set alarm for two hours. Went back to bed. Laid awake listening to thrum of generator until 5:30am (turned off alarm, that was a waste of energy). Checked batteries, turned off genny, went to bed, turning off my morning alarm. Woken at 7:30 by Willow landing on me. Time for walkies!

You puppy owners have it easy :cwl:

Holiday was a fairly expected bundle of teenage whinging, OH sulking that no one appreciates us and fighting for the bathroom! All was good :D Mas was apparently a NIGHTMARE for the first few days and so she put him in a kennel with his littermate and he behaved himself from then on.

He’s weirdly well behaved. No biting and very... eager to please.

Obviously it won’t last.

Yup! Monday ?

Had a great walk today - went to a local historical town.. lots of market stalls and vintage shops - he was AWESOME. Literally couldn’t fault him. When I waited outside shops for the kids he laid down and waited patiently. Was at heel constantly. Only one bad bit was when a HUGE black lab (fairly sure must have been a cross due to size) walked past lunging on the lead... Mas was laying down and his owner brought him over with a ‘be nice’ next minute the dog has flown for Mas snarling and growling who basically leapt onto my lap. Stupid bloody people. No contact was made but we made sure to have lots of positive experiences afterwards. Also treated him to a giant horn which he thinks is marvellous to lob at the walls ?

A good night here, too - I have been thinking about it and think that Luna being unsettled is temperature related. It's been cooler here recently, and she's been coming up onto the bed to sleep. But I think she is waking up too warm and so wanting to go outside to cool down. She runs really hot, always has.

Perversely, last night was warmer than it has been, but with that, she chose to sleep downstairs where it's cooler - and slept through. I slept undisturbed from 12:30 to 7:30 - heaven!!!
