Sleep. Or lack thereof.

So sorry - what a nightmare. Red had lots of diarrhoea episodes last year (fortunately, we managed to get outside each time) so I know how horrible and deeply upsetting it is. The most recent (about a month ago) episode lasted 5 days and she had to have antibiotics. Pro Kolin always helps and they can have that longer than the 3 days our vet (then) said they should have. The special food is horrendously expensive and I remember lying awake one night when it looked like she’d always be on it, thinking we wouldn’t be able to sustain the cost. As @SwampDonkey says he wil need the food for several days including transition back to his normal food.

Ugh, poor lad - and poor you. Poppy reacts very badly to metacam, so she only gets good old-fashioned rimdyl when necessary.

Had done 4 Poos by 12pm but then none since. He’s totally bewildered by the lack of ‘treats’ during the day.

He’s been such a superstar as he’s been in my classroom all day in his pen.. no chews or anything edible and he’s not misbehaved once.

Just gave him his second can of the day so we are just waiting for fireworks now

It's hard to trust their bellies sometimes. Does he seem calm relaxed or a bit restless? They are always good and indications of an oncoming bottom storm. Rory gets agitated and a bit silly when his tummy hurts.

Totally calm all day... even when he’s been to the toilet. The urgency seems less today.. he’s going A LOT but he’s going when I’m taking him out as opposed to rushing out the door.

The lack of feeding him treats all day seems to have actually helped him today as he’s not on high alert waiting for the next bit of food

A settled night - got up at 5 and let him out to the toilet and he straight away did a poo which was loose but no where near as bad as it had been... he wasn’t fed after 5pm so he had held it a while.

That sounds better. Poor Mas and poor you - I hope he’s back to normal soon.

Progress for sure.
It must have been a nerve wracking day at school yesterday.

It wasn’t the easiest. Basically he just stayed in class all day and I did every hour trips to the toilet armed with bags, bottle of water (to wash away anything left) and kitchen roll.

I can not believe how much he can poo on 2 tins of food a day! I usually feed him way more than that!

Still blood and diareah It’s now been 5 days, 3 day course or probind and the specialist diet.

Back to the vets on thursday. It’s not a lot of blood - in a ‘handful’ of poo there is a 5p sized amount - bright red. Vet said he would be more worried if it was black.

I can not believe a weeks dose of metacam has done this to him. Never again.

He had his puppy class tonight! Did a perfect retrieve, with distractions.. passed his inspection and his tricks.

Only have the recall to go now and he’s passed the whole thing!

And he couldn’t have any treats. Did lots of play as a reward so he was happy enough but you could see his little face when he thought he would get some food. I hate the thought of him being hungry.
