Smell of Dog Sick

I know this sounds stupid to ask but when your dog is sick, how bad does it smell?
Usually Hunter's sick smells of nothing really. Very sticky and slimy but the smell is not that bad.
Yesterday he threw up in the kitchen and it smelled really really BAD. The dog walker think that he could have eaten human pooh!
Should I be worried that it smelt so bad or would you expect it?
He eats all sorts of pooh but I never had sick this bad smelling before.....or maybe I have just been really lucky until now?

I think you have been lucky to never have that putrid smell from a dogs sick.

However keep an eye on him as if sick smells of poo, it could be caused by an obstruction but that's worse case scenario.

Human poo coming back up is hideous. Once Carbon vomited up his own poo that he'd eaten plus some dead crabs off the beach. It was in the car and I could't stop - had to keep driving for another 40 minutes until I could safely pull over and change the towels he was on. I will never ever ever forget that smell.

If it's just his normal dinner that comes up or bile, it doesn't smell bad.

So yes, it really depends on what comes up. :puke:

Oh yuk yuk yuk!

I’m glad to say my coffee and breakfast have been had!

Normal dog sick smells very little - unless they have a bug or have sicked up something disgusting that they ate.

Unfortunately there has been a lot of human poo during lockdown, Rourke has eaten some, most times he has been fine but once he was very, very sick. However, a vet lives near me and her dogs ate human poo and both went down with salmonella and had to be on antibiotics. I would think though, that on the whole, there shouldn't be any lasting effects for Hunter, unless the poo-er was on drugs and even then I don't know if they would still be active to a small degree having gone through the digestive system.

Maisy has never had smelly bile or sick until a few weeks ago. For no reason I know, she was sick in the night. She was fine after and perky and playful so I have no idea what it was all about. The reason I woke up and saw the sick was the smell, my heavens it was rank, it actually woke me from a deep sleep

Depends on what they eat will determine the smelly scale of 'mild' to 'of the charts get me out of here....' kind of smell....

I remember Vanilla once being sick in the back of the car, She had eaten a sponge of the beach and must have sat in her stomach for just over a week. Well it stunk the car out on a hot summers day (40c+) and it took me over a week to get rid of the smell, every time got into the car had to open the windows about 10min prior to try and remove some of the smell.

Honey has just been sick and her smelled fowl....no idea what she has eaten but not good...

Always know with these two if it is really bad they won't go near it again and just have a really sad face on them and curl up feeling sorry. I would too if it was that bad...
