How is Harley doing now?
Thanks for ask @Joy
She’s still a bit tender on her tummy, but not as bad as it was. I have the appointment with a nutritionist on Monday so hopefully that will help us even more. For all of her meals, Harley has been having boiled chicken and different veg. She’s really liking the sweet potato and will opt for that as a snack over most of her treats. I just need to get the balance right and make sure she’s getting the nutrition right. For the next few days she will have white fish to change it up. Harleys paw is healing so at least that’s not aggravating her so much now. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

That's good to hear Naya that Harley is not as tender. I hope you gain some good advice from the Nutritionist to help you plan her meals. As Hattie has kidney disease and can't have off the shelf treats my vet recommended this company, they are also for dogs with pancreatitis. They are pricey but I wait for sale time and get 20% discount, so I stock up. You can also save & subscribe to save money. Hattie loves them and she still gets chews, dental sticks and treats which is lovely. xx

Naya how is Harley? Was your appointment with the Nutritionist helpful? Been thinking about you both. xx
Thanks for asking Helen. Harley loves her new food. We’ve changed her to a barf diet that is only 7-8% fat which seems to be helping. The nutritionist was great and gave me really good advice on food and some short term supplements to help detox her body from her previous food and treats. Harley seems to be a bit more playful over the last couple of days, and isnt begging for food as much when we are eating. We’ve changed her treats, chews and main food. She is also no longer sensitive on her tummy and is loving having tummy rubs again 🥰. It will take a few months to get to where we want to be with weight and energy levels, but we are in a good place now. The nutritionist has also emailed me since to see if I had any other questions and has offered for us to contact her at any time for no extra charge which I feelmis really nice 😀

I'm so happy to hear the progress you are making for Harley. Great that she's feeling a bit better and things can only get better for her. What have you changed her treats to? You've done a really good job Naya, Harley is a lucky girl. xxx

Her food is Naked dog and Harley loves it. She has ostrich chips, horse treats and venison. She can have the occasional Soopa stick and boiled chicken pieces. She loves cooked green beans and broccoli so also has these as treats 😀

Horse is a meat just like any other. If you're happy to eat/feed cow, sheep, pig, deer, chicken, turkey, kangaroo etc then I really don't see there's any difference in eating/feeding horse meat. I encourage anyone who feels different to explore why they feel there is a difference.

I'm glad Harley is feeling better.

Logically you are right of course, but I think most people feel differently about eating some animals vs others (or meat vs fish). I've travelled to places where dog is actually on the menu, and where the people I've been with have ordered it and tried to persuade me to eat it. They make the same point- the dogs are bred and farmed for their meat, it's just the same as a cow. But it's not the same to me! (Though I recognise their sentience too and increasingly do feel I should become vegetarian for exactly that reason)
