Sorry to hear this, but you have done this before and you can do it again. Lack of sleep is awful, but you will soon have him sorted again. It may be his teeth xx

Just as you think you've got yourself and your pup into a tolerably workable routine, teething comes along, accompanied by the growth spurt, and possibly just a little of the huge excitement that comes with having a new pup wearing off a bit. Added to this you have renewed sleep disturbance.
I found this stage tough even though I had retired, so be kind to yourselves going through it, because like it or not, it is a Thing that must be Done!
You're doing really well, just hang on in there a bit longer, keep repeating the mantra, and before too long things will start to settle down again, this time with no more major disruptions (eg teething) in store. That's when the really lovely times start and carry on......

Thanks team! I appreciate the solidarity, and it is of course part of the rich tapestry we weave when we entirely voluntarily get a new pup :|

This is it in a nutshell, and the only way forward is through so through we must go - and make as good a fist of it as possible. I would pay a million pounds for 3 nights of uninterrupted sleep, I'm rubbish at functioning on empty for more than a few days. One day, not too far away, we'll look back and laugh...

I remember going through this post part puppydom. I took him out for a walk at 4 in the morning and his razor sharp teeth cutting the bottoms of my favourite jeans and then the ripping of my jacket sleeve cuff. I walked down the street with tears trickling all due to lack of sleep. We have all been there and we know the bigger picture is well worth it. I laugh about it now and I made my jeans into 3/4 lengths for spring and welly wearing!

If it's any comfort at all, Joy was the pup I found most challenging of them all, but has grown to be possibly the adult dog with whom I have the strongest bond. The two could of course be due to entirely other factors, but I do sometimes like to think that those very hard early days have paid off in our connection and understanding of each other.
Maybe a cheering thought to hang on to, should you feel the need. xxx

We had a detailed look at his teeth yesterday and there are clear gaps and new growth so this matches with observations over the last few weeks. Tricky to tell but we think he’s got his new canines and several of his front teefs, with premolars and molars following on. Poor baby is really putting in some work!

I'm just remembering that we used to call Merlin 'Maelstrom' when he was a puppy...
This made me laugh. We always referred to Harv as 'Hurricane Harvey' - part Duracell Bunny, part Taz of Tasmania, and part like the donkey from Arabian Knights / Banana Splits (yes, I'm that old!) when his tail is pulled. A virtual  to anybody that remembers the name of the said donkey

Mr Stilton graduated from puppy class the week before last (I’ve only just remembered to crop the trainer’s photo from Facebook).
We’re starting next stage puppy classes with the same trainer this coming Wednesday, I’m surprisingly looking forward to it!IMG_5504.jpeg

What a good boy Stilton! Excited to hear how this next class goes 😊 Definitely good bonding time during those tough teething weeks!
