I also did a Morrison's run today and bought a ton of veggies. For the next week I'm going to try steamed veggies mixed with raw, plus extra salmon oil and probiotics. The salmon oil and probiotics are supposed to be already in the pre-fab raw food, but I noticed today his skin is very dry. I don't often brush him as usually he doesn't need it, but I've noticed a ton of hair loss so decided to give him a good brush out. That's when I noticed the skin. Feel like a very neglectful ML right now...

Maybe because Carbon has other health issues so he's a special case, but I'm not at all impressed with the pre-fab raw food. It's just not cutting the mustard with Señor Carbón. It's a shame because it's SO EASY and the ingredients sound so good. The results, however, are decidedly "meh".

OK, now the vet has called and the urine sample didn't show either a UTI or crystals. They've booked him in on Tuesday for an X-ray and ultrasound to look for stones. If stones, then he'll need an op.

I've never had to leave him all day since I took him out of the shelter. Not so happy about this, but it's what's needed. :(

Carbon's a tough little nut so he'll be fine. He'll probably think it's a grand adventure to be at the vet all day for his test, it's me that will be in a tizzy. Too bad he'll be getting the sedatives and I won't.

The vet called me back and said he'd discussed Carbon with a colleague: they both think he should take the antibiotics anyway just in case. That way if he does improve by Tuesday when his scan is booked, I can cancel or they may do different tests. I appreciate that they are taking such care with my Señor.

So sorry. You’d think if he was behaving normally now that they would say all was ok. Why do they feel the need for a scan? Could it not be just a blip, a bad patch, but all normal now? Snowie went through a bad patch with leaky bloody urine. He had a scan of his prostate and all was normal for his age. Thankfully it passed and all was ok. My vet said, Just wait and see. But I was worried. He wasn’t sedated. They said they got by with giving him tummy tickles while he lay on a molded mattress that kept him on his back. They even inserted a needle to get a biopsy with no sedative. Chances are he’d shut down to a certain extent, but I was relieved he didn’t get the sedative cos at the time he was on epilepsy meds and I was worried about a seizure.

He's better than he was a couple days ago, but definitely not normal yet. He still takes ages to wee and has some urine leakage after he comes back in the house. Since the urine sample didn't have any signs of UTI or crystals, they want to figure out why he's having problems urinating. The most likely thing would be stones. However the vet said there was also a chance there is some infection that he didn't see in the urine sample. So Carbon takes the antibiotics and we see how he goes by Tuesday.

Carbon is the absolute king of having things wrong with him but nearly no symptoms. With that in mind, I'd almost rather play on the safe side and check for the stones in any case.

Hopefully he can be as good as Snowie during the scan and make do with tummy tickles! :D

Mike had several urine infections which never showed up in a urine test! It may be an enlarged prostate, though I guess they have checked that? An x-ray will put your mind at rest one way or the other. If it is stones, I have seen many an op and they dogs were all fine and recovered well, then depending on the make up of the stone you can amend the diet. Fingers crossed it is 'just' in infection. Sending positive vibes to you @Emily_Babbelhund, deep breaths :hug:

What a worry for you! Carbon does seem to have a larger bladder capacity than most, which would account for any bacterial activity being a bit trickier to pick up through the sample. Hope he is fine and a/b's do their magic! :hug: :hug:

Cassie too is pretty impressive at going a vast amount of time between wees. She will neither wee or poo in our small garden unless desperate, and often goes 14 - 18 hrs between times. Her choice, she does have the opportunity!!

Now we don‘t do the evening walk - Red’s last wee is at 5pm until 5 am. She does has the chance to go before bed but is more interested in her bedtime snack

I was interested to see that there was a vet on FB today who was referring to something called "stress cystitis " which seemed to be common at the moment (along with swallowing Foreign Bodies, injuries from dog fights etc).
Probably not what Carbòn has, but interesting all the same. I hadn't heard of it before.
