He IS clever but what he was doing there was seeing if I would take a cheeky paw target instead of a back up. He's a happy backer but he LOVES LOVES LOVES paw targeting.

She's on Vancouver Island. It looks like a lovely place...right up my alley travel-wise. If she did ADI certification in addition to the training, I'd just plan a visit!

We've been doing this "Settle under Legs" thing for a few days, but I've only asked him to go under one leg as two legs was WOO HOO scary. Today I filmed Carbon's first try at The Whole Enchilada (aka going under two legs) and look what he did!

Carbon: "Scary? I do not know what is scary. Pfft! For a Spanish Gentleman Dog, all is possible, verdad?"

(Oh and please excuse the purple bra strap...I really need to get a different treat pouch).

Every wanted to know how you train a dog to back into a row of seats on an airplane? Here are the beginning bits...

Start with backing up between two chairs

Then add a chair behind to close the channel

Then practice a longer and narrower channel

Then practice with a narrow closed channel using a wall at one end

We're also training a laying down backwards scoot to get him under the seat on the plane. That's going just a tad slower!

It is really helping to have two private sessions a week, both for the advice I get and the motivation to work enough to have videos to show our trainer. Travel date looming (11 Sept) doesn't hurt either!
