Sending positive thoughts for a smooth journey with preferably no vomiting ... Carbon, not you, of course 😉
Well, you know on the ferry both outcomes equally likely.

We're on the ferry now and it seems very smooth. I'm never going to be a ferry fan, but I'm glad to have the experience so I have an alternate to the Eurotunnel when the prices go wonky like they did this time.

The only sort of ironic thing is that I'm the very first car in front of the ferry on an open deck and two days ago I very carefully washed my car to get all the winter salt off. Ooops. The TARDIS will need another wash down after this morning!

Safe travels! I’m always in a blind state of panic before a trip. I just love getting on the plane and knowing there is nothing else I can do but watch movies. Your need for a nap after getting that letter—totally understand, it’s the relief, and the stress draining from your body so that all you can do is sleep.
he's young enough to be my kid
And in my mind he was a large, older, gray-haired man with a flappy, oversized, gray suit jacket and perhaps a few crumbs of his sandwich on the lapel. A German, more conservative version of Gerard Depardieu.

Pretty much the opposite! When I was looking for a lawyer in Regensburg, I set up appointments with two. One was pretty much as you describe, the other had in his online bio that he was born in 1986. How can he be a lawyer, I wondered, as he's still in elementary school?

The first lawyer didn't want to do anything via email and wanted a retainer up front before even making an appointment to find out if he dealt with my kind of legal issues. The younger lawyer was happy to do everything electronically, bill by the hour and speak English with me...definitely the better choice!

He's tall, thin and light brown hair and obviously still quite young. In the four years I've been going to him, he's gone from 'dress to impress conservative dark suits' to 'young sporty-funky GQ'. Usually very nice suit jackets with a bit of Bavarian flair paired with the tightly tailored trousers young German men adore and lately leather old-school Converse-type trainers. Kind of Bavarian Matt Smith Doctor Who? I mostly see him on a Friday when he doesn't go into court, so his court day attire may be a bit more staid.

There you go, just blew away your German lawyer stereotype, right? ;)
