The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Hola todos! I am so very cansado - that means TIRED - that I can barely hold my velvety noble head up. But ML says I must not disappoint my public and must write something. Who is my public? I have lots of amigos but I do not know about this public. Pero vale, but ok, I do understand that I must tell my stories if I am someday going to be a famous Spanish Gentleman dog. Ademas, what is more, ML gives me such lovely cuddles and kisses when I write that it makes it all worth it. So I will write and then it is time for a big cuddle under the fluffy duvet!

The first thing you must know about today is that is was SUNNY. Todo el dia, all day! This is very exciting in Ireland because it does not happen very often. Let me tell you, mis amigos, Ireland has MUCHO, MUCHO rain from above.

I am explaining this to you because it is the important reason that my "five minute wee walk before work" turned into a two hour camino. This was such a good surprise EXCEPT that ML forgot my cookies and I had to walk two hours with NO COOKIES. How am I supposed to be Good Boy Carbon with no cookies?

And what is more, there was delicious sheep poo all over! Usually ML and I play a game with sheep poo: I pretend that I am going to eat it (vale, sometimes I do not 'pretend'), ML says, "Leave it" and then I get a cookie. Let me tell you a secret, mis amigos: ML does not know it is a game. La verdad, the truth, is that a cookie (and by "cookie", I mean "sausage") is mucho mejor, much better, than sheep poo: I do not really want the sheep poo, I want the sausage.

What was I to do today, then, when we find ourselves on a two hour walk through sheep and ML has NO COOKIES? You know what she said to me? "Go for it, Carbon: you just eat all the sheep poo you want."

Pfft! Now, as they say, the jig is up! If I do not eat the sheep poo, ML will know it is just a game and I will NEVER GET SHEEP WALK COOKIES AGAIN!

Entonces, so, I tried to eat a little sheep poo, just to keep my game going. But...oh no, sheep poo is not as delicious as I remembered it. Maybe Irish sheep do not make as nice as poo like Cornish sheep do.

In any case, after only a few minutes I gave up trying to pretend and decided instead of hunting sheep poo, I would hunt sheep instead. No, no: not to eat them, only to make more friends. I had to do something so that I could ignore ML trying not to laugh at me NOT eating sheep poo.

Vale, ok, vamanos, let's go, with the photos!

Here I am making my first sheep sighting: hola, nuevos amigos!

Then we went up, up the hill and guess who we met? A sheep on the road!

She was not too sure that she wanted to be my friend, but ML and I followed her for quite a while.

Por fin, finally she decided she needed to have her lunch on the side of the hill. Que lastima, what a shame! ML would not let me follow.

We went up...

...and up...

...until we could see very, very far...

...even all the way to the beach ML promised to take me to after work!

I had a very good siesta while ML worked. Oh wait...I meant to say that I worked very hard all afternoon too. I had to lay next to ML on the sofa and provide a soft head for her to pet therefore decreasing her blood pressure and stress. That is important work, no? Si, si, I think it IS!

Then I had my dinner - four o'clock sharp, muchas gracias - and THEN we went to the beach. I remembered this beach from last year. It is muy muy hermosa, very very pretty. Or as these Irish people say: gar-gee-us!

ML says I have to include this: scenery shot of the house at Derrynane. Muy aburrido, yawn. Unless you think about LIVING in the house. That would be very nice. Oh si, also an important Irish man lived there, so it is historical. I appreciate historical: it is part of being an educated gentleman dog.

Claro que si, of course, there are going to be photographs of me looking my most guapo. I do not want to disappoint. Guapo from afar...

...and guapo from aclose. ("Aclose" = Spanish dog humour)

After hard work modelling, it is time for weeeeeee!

...this is the face I make whenever ML asks me to include a scenery shot. Pfft!

As I am feeling grumpy, scared, anxious because of Mike's funeral in a couple of days, Carbon's write up and the beautiful photos, have uplifted me and transported me again. To think all that scenery exists and you have shown it to me Señor Carbon, thank you.
I'm glad Carbon can help in some small way: he's an awfully good unofficial therapy dog. "Grumpy, scared and anxious" sounds like an understatement for the situation you are in.
