How long was he gone Emily?
Oh, it couldn't have been more than 5 minutes - it just felt longer. Usually he comes in quite quickly from his early morning wee, so I went out to look for him and with it being so early, there were luckily no cars or people about. He really was in no danger, just me in a guilty panic. My neighbours had asked me to park my car on the street last night so they can move their caravan into the drive this morning. Thinking I was being nice, I left the gates open for them. Which I'd completely forgotten about when I let Carbon out the back doors this morning as usual. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Luckily I knew he'd either go for my neighbour's front gate or try for the dog field, which is further. I ran towards my neighbour's front gate and saw him down the road mooching in someone's front garden. Usually he has dismal recall, but when he saw me and I called his name, he ran like a bullet towards me. Lots of praise and a special early morning breakfast was offered. I really do imagine him thinking, "Wow, this is fantastic!" at the beginning and by the time he saw me, he was getting a bit worried about where life was taking him. He seemed just as relieved as I was to be back home after his adventure in the big world.
