Just walk.
And I like to look for little architectural details and photograph them (I can hear Carbon saying "Boring scenery shots: pfft!" in my head). I don't do much with the photos afterwards - mainly i just like looking for the details like a treasure hunt while I'm walking around. It makes me look at everything closer.There are so many little alleyways that it never gets old. My two favourite spots are the park (S Elena) and Punta della Dogana (Salute). The apartment I rented is about two minutes' walk from Punta della Dogana so it's really lovely that I can actually go to my favourite spot multiple times a day, at the beginning or end of walks to somewhere else.
I used to do 2-3 hour walks a night after work with Brogan, so I have tons of favourite routes. Carbon and I haven't even scratched the surface yet despite almost a week of walking 4-6 hours a day. That's ok: reason to come back.
I'm very impressed with how fast Carbon has learned the layout of Venice and the vaporetto stop trick. Brogan did the same thing: new how to get home from multiple points despite all the many twists and turns. How do they learn that so fast?! And he has mastered the art of sitting on my lap on the vaporetto (if we have a seat) or sitting between my legs if I'm standing. He also now gets VERY excited to put his muzzle on because...treats! He's a Venice natural.

Hola amigos,
What a great day! NO wet from above despite all forecasts to the contrary means I was a very happy Señor all day! We started out with a 7am walk, came back home for breakfast, went out for a big walk who knows where, came back home again and then went to the park. I met some wonderful new friends - because I stole their ball but let us not dwell on specifics - and played for over an hour while ML talked and talked and talked and talked. Amigos, she sure does love to talk!
We even saw a man who used to give Brogan bread every day. He is a retired baker and ML says his pockets were always full of bread. He has an enormous dog called Princi who did not like me very much, so I could not check out this story by sorting through his pockets. ML said to watch out: Princi must be a vampire dog because he is HUGE yet has not aged a day since Brogan knew him 8 years ago. That is some kind of canine voodoo right there, mis amigos!
Then we walked back along the waterfront and watched the ships pass on the water. ML wanted to walk more but I pulled her into a vaporetto stop and made her laugh, so she did what I suggested and took the vaporetto home instead of MORE WALKING. Two little girls petted my head on the boat and now we are home.
I got bread and pasta for dinner because ML ran out of dog food. I wish ML would ALWAYS run out of dog food. Ojala!
Once our feet are rested, we will go out for one more walk in our neighbourhood, then it is to bed and back to Germany tomorrow. ML says we are definitely coming back to Venice for a longer time next year: what a good idea! I really think with a little more time, I could become a legend here, just like Señor Brogan!

Thank you for the good wishes! We just arrived safe and sound, though there was sun, rain and snow along the way.
My apartment here in Regensburg has once again been changed, most notably the only area rug where Carbon and I could play is gone. New uglier artwork too. Sigh. They change things that work, leave things alone that are broken. Pitfalls of living full time in holiday rentals.
But hey ho, in a few days I’ll forget that.
The bigger problem is that I can’t get near the front door with my car to bring in my things from storage. It’s a construction zone!
