The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Oh dios mio, ML has Finchen and me working SO hard! We had do keep her company packing until midnight, then we passed out a leeeetle bit, then we finally went to bed at 2am. And then, madre de dios, we were up and out the door at 5:30am in the rainy dark streets to pick up our car and take the rest of our things into storage. I was so sad to say goodbye to my Sammy sloth, and so was ML. She says Sammy is too big and he has to stay with Flea and my other amigos, safe in storage while we travel the world. Luckily Monkey and Ellie are coming along to cheer me up.

ML and I both agree that all this moving has taken a toll this year. No bueno, amigos, no bueno.

The good news? Today we move to amiga Nadine's apartment, and SHE KEEPS FOOD ON THE FLOOR! Real FOOD! She is not used to Labradors and there is lovely fruit and treats and all sorts of wonderful things to gobble up, all within the reach of my gentlemanly Spanish nose. Ojala! You see, there is ALWAYS a bright side in any situation.

Is Finchen hermana for Fine, amigo Carbòn?
"Finchen" is how you make something cute and little in German. It is the same way that ML sometimes calls me "Carboncito" - the "-cito"(for a boy) or "-cita" (for a girl) at the end of the word is an affectionate way of saying something is small and cute.

Hey, wait...I am a magnificent Spanish gentleman dog, not small and cute! I will have to have a word with ML about calling me that!

In German, to do the same thing, you add "-chen" on the then end. So Fine becomes Finchen.

By the way, un poco linguistic trivia, you can also add "-ito" on the end of an adjective. In Mexico, it is common that the add LOTS of "-ito" to really stress how small something is. So you might say, "I got my kitten when she was only a few days old: she was "pequenitititititito!' "Pequeño"= small, but pequenitititititito = really tiny!

ML says Mexican Spanish is much more fun than Castellano (Spanish in Spain). To that I say "Pfft!"
