The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

It really is amazing. Everyone's 'best of' is going to be subjective, but for me, Cornwall just pushes so many of my buttons. I loved Ireland for years and still do, but Cornwall's beauty definitely rivals it (neither is better, they are just different while still being very similar) with the advantage that Cornwall's scale is much smaller and the Coastal Path makes these beautiful places very accessible. And though I've never been here in summer, when I assume the weather is better, I actually really love the weather here because it changes all the time. As long as you have a nice little bolthole - and time - to ride out the rain, you're likely to see the sun again not too long in the distant future. 😊
I would imagine in the summer it is too full of tourists and the roads are chocked with traffic. It certainly is the place I love, though have only been twice, once in 1955 and once in about 1999ish.

@Jelinga Summer in Cornwall ( the main school holidays weeks ) can be very hard on locals , put simply , there are just too many people here at the same time . We tend to go shopping , take the dogs out etc . before 8 in the morning and dont go out again . Of course we need visitors, we rely on them for our economy and want to welcome them but it can be tough to carry on normal services. There has also been a massive TV coverage recently encouraging people to holiday here or come to live here , both can impact on locals who are on the whole poorly paid and can no longer afford to buy or pay high rents , it hard to strike a balance . xxx

Yes, I can understand that and would hate it. My hills get crowded, but fortunately the small town doesn't.

When I was in Sydney in Dec/Jan—summer time!—it was soooo cold!! I packed a jersey as a just-in-case but thought I’d never wear it, or my jeans. Well, I lived in them for 3 days in a row.
San Francisco is notoriously colder and foggier in the summer than in the winter. Especially foggier. It can be 40C in San Jose (where my house is) and less than 10C in San Francisco (this is a 45-minute drive). You see so many people in SF walking around it "San Francisco" sweatshirts in the summer, because tourists come in shorts and t-shirts and freeze their backsides off until those tourist sweatshirts seem AMAZING no matter the price.

And to be honest, my neighbors/landlords have told me that there can be MORE rain and ugly weather here in the summer than the winter. Even if the weather were perfect, however, I'd give July and August a hard pass for all the reasons @kateincornwall already mentioned. I can't imagine dealing with all the people, and don't care to be part of the problem, either. Of course I wouldn't say no if someone offered me accommodation in summer, but I'm guessing it would be like my one "Carnaval in Venice" experience: never again! 😂

Beautiful photo and Señor Carbon poses so well :sun:
Gracias, Señorita Sonia! I think that you can see here, from my very serious face, how seriously I take daffodils and springtime. Sí, sí, these are indeed serious subjects, so I must concentrate very hard to look like I am thinking deep and serious thoughts. But claro qué sí, the side tilt of my hips - done very purposefully - gives me that added "je ne sais quoi" of flirtatiousness.

It is NOT, as ML insists, simply the same face that I have in every photo and that says, "Please hurry up and take the photo so that I may have my treat because I am a very, very, hungry and starving Señor". She does not know WHAT she is talking about. Pfft!

I liked the casual sideways place of the hips, the concentration and slightly flirtatious eyes :sun:

When he does that pose he also looks so much bigger and blockier than he actually is. For anyone who has met him, you know that he is in fact a very diminutive señor with a small narrow head. How he manages to look like that in so many photos (a big blocky head) is a mystery. Maybe he really IS a modelling professional!? 😳
