The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Lots of activity with my lawyer but the end result is that I'm getting what they call a "fictional" visa (don't ask why it's called that, I just figured it is a quirk of German) which acknowledges my right to stay while some behind the scenes stuff gets sorted out. I will pick that up on Monday morning, which means another three hour wait starting at 6am, but hopefully with a more positive result this time.
Your lawyer is Father Christmas :santa:

Emily, I too was in bed at 7.30 yesterday, a week of 4.30 ish get ups had caught up with us. Well done Mr carbon-feeding laywer man, :clap:does your fictional visa guarantee you a non-fictional visa in the future, or will you have to go throgh the process all over again?

Oh, that is FAR more positive news, great stuff! I hope your ham-toting lawyer can work his magic with the behind-the-scenes shenanigans and that your fictional visa becomes a - I don't know? "autobiographical"?, "encyclopaedic"?; anyway, a fully-fledged working document in due course.

I hope you had a wonderful relaxing night's sleep and enjoy your weekend ahead of Monday's important meetings.

No, it just means that I don't have to worry about getting booted out of Germany while they are sorting out an actual visa. My current visa runs out tomorrow and the head the foreigner's office, i.e. the guy my lawyer needs to talk to, is out of the office until after Christmas, so my understanding is that the fictional visa bridges that gap.

As is often the way, once I let myself relax a bit on Thursday evening, I ended up getting a horrible cold. The worst I've had since the one that landed me in the hospital during chemo five years ago. I've been able to get Carbon out for a wee twice a day - just barely - but otherwise I've been in bed. It's all a little scary as I don't know what I'd do with Carbon if I had to go back into the hospital. So I've been drinking lots of water and just resting all I can. Tomorrow is going to be tough as I need to be at the foreigner's office at 6 am and my voice is completely gone. It's going to be little scribbled notes and hoping I don't throw up on the employees. More adventure!

Carbon has been amazing. He has not left my side and has been so patient with complete lack of activity since Friday. I had bad chills yesterday so had the heaters on blast - I imagine the apartment was over 25 degrees - but he still came and laid right on my back as I was huddled under the covers. He's also been bringing his 'babies' in bed as apparently he thinks they will comfort me - @Boogie 's Pheasant seems to be the current favourite.

Who knew I had a Florence Nightingale Spanish gentleman on my hands?

Hopefully all the weekend rest will have paid off and tomorrow I'll be much better and ready to face the three hour visa queue!
