Oh poor you Emily. I do hope you feel better tomorrow. Carbon is so good and a lovely boy. I will say a little pray for you about your visa.
Take care of yourself

Carbon, I just love you. Look after your foster lady because we can't be there to give her cuddles....sending them through you, beautiful and gallant Spanish gentleman.
Pongo also sends his very best drool (he is pooling it at my feet as I type) which has of course got miraculous curative properties. He says.
Wrap yourself in forum love, Emily, and go get 'em tomorrow. We're there with you in spirit.

Oh Emily, sounds like you're dealing with the flu rather than a cold. I hope that a solid weekend of rest has you feeling heaps better by Monday. And bless that Carbon. I remember you saying several months ago that you didn't think he really liked you, or that you didn't have a bond or something...I think his behaviour this weekend maybe *just maybe* shows otherwise. What a good boy he is.

Aww @Emily_Babbelhund I'm sorry you are feeling rubbish.
Putting my work hat on, I would say out from under that duvet and drink plenty of cold iced drinks. Brings your temp down far better than paracetamol and it's usually the temp that makes you feel most rubbish. Hiding under a duvet and keeping the heat in is the worst thing to do.
Sending healing thoughts and strength to do what is needed tomorrow xxxxx

That is interesting, didn't know that!

So sorry. Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery. It always happens that way it seems: let your guard down, and the bugs take over. Hope you get a lot of good sleep. Best of luck tomorrow. xxx

Thank you for all the lambie power plus professional advice from @Jacqui-S and professional drool from @Rosie 's Pongo.

The chills had stopped by this morning, but it had gone into my chest and ears and frankly has sucked the life out of me. Stupid flu...cold...whatever. It usually takes me seven minutes to walk to the foreigner's office from my apartment - this morning was over 30 as I just had to keep stopping to sit and rest. But I made it to the office and made it through four hours of waiting. I now have a fictional visa - again, whatever that means! - that says I'm good to stay in Germany until mid June. Yay! (y)

It was interesting trying to get the visa sorted with NO voice. Really none. I wrote everything and did a lot of nodding. In the first line I was once again treated like I have a documented past of smuggling high power weaponry into the country. But apparently my lawyer had sprinkled some pixie dust somewhere because despite me clearly being unfit even for a FICTIONAL visa, the person at the desk finally shrugged and gave me a number to wait in a second line to actually get the visa printed out. Once I got in to a real person for that, I had another hour wait because the first person had opened my file on her computer and then went on break. That meant the second person couldn't access my records in order to print the visa. We just had to sit there and wait and wait and wait until person one came back from break and logged out of my file. Ugh.

To be honest, I don't remember most of it except for thinking that you could probably fry an egg on my forehead and wouldn't that be a funny thing to try at the foreigner's office?

I don't remember the walk home either, just crawling into bed with Carbon and sleeping for three hours. Late this afternoon I started to feel vaguely human again and either Carbon really had to wee or he sensed a potential end to his Florence Nightingale days, because he sat on my head and shoved his horse in my face until I took him out.

I made it out for his wee, but still no dice on making it to the supermarket or anywhere further than the corner for a puppy wee actually. I really have no clue how I made it to the foreigner's office. Where there's a will, there's a way, I guess.

Tonight though my chest and ears are feeling SO much better. I think tomorrow will be a good day. I still have zero voice, but maybe that's a bit of temporary karma. As anyone who has met me knows, I do tend to use my voice more than the average bear...maybe it just needed an enforced rest! :sneaky:
