The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

I do hope it won't be too hot, but fear it might be in Regensburg. Is there water nearby that can cool Carbon off? I had a feeling we would all suffer with a heatwave after all the miserable rain
He can go in the Danube - it's only a five minute walk from my flat and very clean. I'll probably go in, too!

I just hope we don't have a repeat of last summer where it was over 30C for six weeks straight. :scared:

Feeling for you with the heat, Emily. It is hot here near Frankfurt, but we live up in the hills and it is never as bad as down in the city. I’ve cancelled my training class for Wednesday though, as it is supposed to be 36 degrees or more... This evening it’s nice and cool though with a lovely light breeze.

I’ve stayed in Amiens! I think it was a stopping point to leave the car to take the train into Paris. We also went to the cathedral! We preferred the night we spent in Arras after visiting Vimy Ridge and Beaumont Hamel. Would have been way better with a dog!! ☺

Love your car-napping picture, Emily! Definitely one to frame, I’d say!

You can send some heat our way. It’s quite cool with rain forecast for the week here. We had torrential rains last week, which was good in one way as we needed it, but it would be nice to get some sun, now...

Sorry about that, when did that change? I feel terrible that you went there because of me.
Oh no, not at all! I'm glad I went and would go back again. :)

Apparently the permanent closure of the cliff-top parking is relatively new, so no way to plan for that. Yesterday when I was parked in town I could have walked up to the cliffs - as you know there are stairs and a path. I'm so unfit at the moment and my tendon infection has flared up again, so I just didn't attempt it as I knew that it would make the long drive afterwards too difficult.

However it was good motivation as this is just another example from the last week of touristing that has really brought home to me how unfit I've become. If I want to do fun things with Carbon - like walk up to the top of the Etretat cliffs - then I need to make a strong effort over the summer to improve!

Also just walking around Etretat was really interesting. There was signage along the promenade about Monet, the life of the fisherman at the turn of the century and WW2. As to the beach, I had zero expectations that it would be dog friendly (none of the Normandy town beaches have been) so was not disappointed at all. The view from the promenade was gorgeous and a fitting spot to say goodbye to the sea until September.

The ducks have landed in Regensburg...mostly. It was a long and sweaty drive from Metz: my poor little car put out a bit of cold air if I kept it under 100km per hour, but not much. There was no chance of stopping along the way as it was too hot. Carbon and I both had one wee break when I filled up my tank and that was it.

Quite a few little changes in my flat, but this time all welcome ones: a new area rug, a toiletry caddy in the shower, things like that. Mainly I'm just glad that I'll be able to unpack my car for the first time since January. I counted and this is my 18th house move (i.e. longer than 2 night stays as I don't count those) since 1 January. Most of those were practically moving next door, but I'm still pretty tired of it. Yeah, I'm already dreaming of rolling into Padstow in January, but I can sit here for a bit first.

There's also a LOT to sort out this summer like my immigration and tax status and hopefully completing most of Carbon's SD training.

Tomorrow I'll get my car out of the garage at 6am when the streets are empty, park in front of my door and toss everything from the TARDIS into my little studio. Then these two ducks will have OFFICIALLY officially landed!

Have a lovely sleep tonight Emily, after having something to eat.
Thanks, Cath. Headed off to the grocery store now. Sauerkraut anyone? :ROFLMAO:

********************************************************

By the way, this concludes the Labratour Part Six which rang in at 8.900 kms, bringing Carbon's touring tally in the TARDIS (try saying that 10 times fast) to 32.000kms and seven countries. Way to go, Carboncito Bandito.

Hurrah! Welcome home!! Are you going straight from Germany to Cornwall, or are you going to be spending any time in Cádiz this year?
Oh my goodness, going 'straight to' somewhere? Heaven forbid!

July/Aug/early September: Regensburg
Rest of September: California (hopefully with Carbon - that's why we have to study hard the next two months)
October: Ireland via the UK to visit @RosieC
November: Wild Card
December: Regensburg
January/February: Cornwall
March/April/first part of May: Cádiz
Latter half May: road trip through Spain/France on the way to UK
June: Cornwall
July/Aug: Regensburg

Of course that's just the rough plan dependant on immigration demands (it's important to me to keep all my travels within German rules for my residency permit), work and some other stuff. But Cornwall and Spain are already reserved for 2020, so fingers crossed!
