Just catching up with this. It's a great shame if you don't have confidence in your vet and I would certainly be tempted to change.
Many years ago when our first dog, a cairn terrier, had a skin condition, I changed vets because as at one point I was left outside the surgery with a dog bleeding heavily after an internal examination and just handed a wad of paper towels! The receptionists then were a force to be reckoned with! So I went instead to a vet in the next town, about a twenty minute drive away. We stayed with that (lovely) practice for many years until finally the second partner retired and it was taken over... by the original practice that I'd been to where I live! At that point I decided to give it another go, as it was probably better to take the animals locally, rather than a few miles away, to see the same vets. Fortunately the old regime was no more and things had completely changed!
It's never easy dealing with a potentially sick animal, so it would be worth trying elsewhere, even with a longer journey, if the service is better. At least you wouldn't be kept waiting and wondering. I hope you get some answers soon.
