This is not meant to be!!

Oh, for the love of all that is holy.

The vet was due to come today for Nisha. I gave her the tablets at 12:45, all went swimmingly. J went to collect the vet, and I popped back to my computer to fit in a few more minutes of work. Then I had a panic realising that I hadn't fed the others their lunch and I wanted them to be as settled as possible because them barking could make Nisha fight the drugs. I was rushing, the dogs were super excited because I was obviously acting a bit weird. I put them outside while I prepped the chicken for them. A carcass for Shadow and Squidge, a back for Willow, and half a back for Ginny.
Normally, they sit nicely for them, but today I was in a rush. They all came barging in, Shadow jumped up and grabbed the chicken back that was supposed to be for Willow, I instinctively grabbed it back, my finger went right into his back teeth....

Shortly after, I was phoning J to hurry the F up and get back because I needed to get to hospital. I somehow managed to feed the other three, grab my bag, a roll of kitchen paper, and a bag of peas. The end of my finger was still attached, but my nail was split all the way through very near the base, and I had lost all feeling. The wound itself hurt to high heaven, but then end of my finger, nope, nada. Bollocks.

Several hours later, I'm back home, praying J will get home from the pharmacy with some painkillers soon. It wasn't as bad as I'd imagined as I ran down the track to meet up with J, hand held up in the air with a bag of peas attached. I have a fractured bone and four stitches. The nail is definitely a goner. But no surgery. Hurrah.

I recommend only clicking here if you don't mind a bit of blood and ick.

Oh Fiona, that looks Veryvery ouchy! Hope you make a speedy recovery and that Nisha's investigations can still go ahead.
The words of Frazer in Dad's Army are for some reason springing to mind, 'We're doomed, doomed!'   and:thelambiesarecoming::thelambiesarecoming::thelambiesarecoming:

Ooh heck, bit of a scratch that
And what an utter kerfuffle for the dogs and particularly Nisha. Hopefully can be rearranged, and it’s not too blimmin painful for you.

Also - sorry - my first thought on seeing your poor finger was: how do you manage with long nails?? Isn’t it impractical?

My first thought was 'Lovely nails ' swiftly followed by 'Why can she manage that with six dogs when I can't with one?'

Oh lord, much sympathy.

I have exactly the same injury with the same cause...trying in a hurry to wrestle a pigs ear from a Labrador (so we could get an official photo at our dog club...without the pigs ear). My right ring finger went to his back molars and in an instant got sliced halfway through midway up the last joint. It took a long time to heal and it was really hard to keep it clean (so have lots of dressings in stock...). Took about 20 years (not kidding) to get the feeling back right to the end of that finger.

Glad you still have your whole finger 💜
