Time to say goodbye

I've just seen a fab teeny dog recall on the park. Shes a rescue they've only just had her and she's a little devil, but their hard work is paying off. Cutest thing I've ever seen. I always ask people to give me some space in a clear voice and most people get it. It maybe that she just froze because she was scared or didn't know how to react.

They could!
I think it would also be good for you to have a vest as it’s more obvious to an approaching person (or someone behind you for that matter) to see that your dog is reactive and you need space. If it’s just on the dog, they often don’t see it until it’s too late.

Honestly I could scream right now.

I bought baby gates to separate the dogs...because of the issues shamas gas has post-release.

They were delivered at 12:55

Stolen by 1pm when we pulled into the driveway

130bucks.

I'm ranting mentally again. If someone came by and said they had a platform to clean up the homeless and deal with the theft problems.....I'd donate money and vote for the cause. They have almost cost me my dog, AND are actively preventing me from dealing with the difficulties resulting from their first act of destruction.

Nope....there's an epidemic of Amazon package theft around here. It's why I normally pay more and buy in stores.

But I needed to cross a 54" hallway and didn't want a $200 gate. Because I also need gates in the two sides of the kitchen, and possibly the top of the basement stairs and my kids rooms...keeping doors closed at all times results in uneven heating and stuffy rooms.

At an average of $79/door.....I was hoping to save some money and buy basic top of stair gates for $50 online

I really, really hope this all works out for you and Shamus. I don't want it to be time to say Goodbye. You have put in so much good work with him and he has been a brave boy. Wishing you all the best from me and my sometimes a bit anxious and therefore reactive GGJ xxxxxxx

So I heard back from Dr Trina today

We're going to start him on trazadone. This should hopefully stop him from going from 0-60 and allow us to rehabilitate

The therapist is Nov 15th

Got him a pair of Baskerville muzzles. One for each door.

One for angel too, a size big. Laced it with cream cheese and let her stuff her own face in lol!

I hope so. I have heard success stories of aggressive dogs who between muzzled and therapy were able to be socialized and become part of doggy society

Perhaps if we take the teeth out of his toolbox and show him other ways he can too

One of the things I notice when my socially inept dogs are muzzled is that it makes me relax a lot more, and their interactions with other dogs go so much better because of that.

We meet other dogs so infrequently that there's no real chance of "rehabilitation" as such, but it's also far less problematic for us for the same reason. I hope you find the solution you're looking for. I know how emotionally draining it is to have a dog with crippling fear, and a dog that can't be trusted with others, so you have my sympathies.

Funny you should say that because I noticed that shamas seems more relaxed with his muzzle on. I'm sure that's because we're not afraid of what he might do now.

Plus, Angel can't lick his mouth when it's on. Which he doesn't like and she doesn't listen to his complaints. When he grumbles at her, she does it more.

We try to keep her off him but she's quick and sneaks in if we get distracted. I'm counting on the puppy classes, and leash training to help mitigate that problem.
