Toffee's Eyes

Joy had conjunctivitis a few weeks ago and her eyes looked similar although not so bad. She was given antibiotic drops which cleared it up quickly. Poor, poor Toffee, he does look sorry for himself. Hope it clears up soon.

What are the medicines supposed to be treating, I assume one is an antibiotic? Don't suppose he has been swimming in any yucky ponds?
And he's going grey, he's only a baby still!
Antibiotics, anti inflammatory, and eye gel. No swimming at all, he hasn’t even been in the reeds or ditches recently.
Yes, I can’t believe he’s going grey - he’s got more grey than Ripple.

Trying to decide whether I should go through the insurance or not 🤔.

Poor Toffee and poor you . Looks like conjunctivitis. Really hoping he responds quickly to the medication and you don’t need a referral. Feel for you - it’s upsetting:hug:

If there is no improvement this morning, I really think you must get him to an eye specialist vet. Eyes can deteriorate quickly and blindness is something you want to avoid. That right eye looks terrible.

How is Toffee this morning, @SteffiS?
Thank you everyone for asking. There is definitely some improvement; yesterday he had no vision in his right eye and I’m sure today that has come back. He is happier in himself, although not with his usual enthusiasm, so not in all the pain he was yesterday. The eye gel is proving a challenge  .
We have another appointment tomorrow morning, although I have the option of a referral to the eye specialist today if I think it’s necessary.

Good to see there is some improvement, but still concerning that he had no vision in his right eye. I think I would claim on insurance, why not?
The vet actually rang this morning to see if I wanted the referral to the ophthalmologist, I’m not going yet but keeping it as an option if things get worse over the day.
I had a long chat with my daughter (paramedic, previously vet nurse) and she was horrified at the cost and felt some of the tests they did were a bit over the top.
The frightening thing for me was how fast it happened and how bad it was, I’ve never seen an eye like that before.
I’m probably going to claim on the insurance but £105 excess plus 10% :hmm: .
