Little brother who is a very organized person and who is turning into our Dad as he gets older, writes a menu list each week, whereas I, less organized and without doubt turning into our Mum as I get older, tend to think each day 'What's really making my mouth water just by thinking about it?' and that's what I'll cook. Anyway, on the list for this evening's meal is CBH. Jenny and I have been trying since lunch time to get him to tell us what it is but he flatly refuses and will give no clues.We have even searched the fridge and cupboards but still have no idea what it will be. So I have altered it to GBH on his list because that's what he'll be getting if he doesn't spill the beans soon! funny how spending time together brings out the Inner Child in us both!

I had actually come up with cold boiled ham myself, funnily enough. It was a very good corned beef hash I must admit. He'd put Sweetfire beetroot in which was a great addition. He had also, in a tongue- in-cheek sort of a way finished it with a flat leaf parsley garnish. He's a pretty good cook.Just not quite as good as his highly sophisticated big sister!

Ah so people actually make it from scratch. I always thought it was the meal you made with leftover corned beef.

It's just salt-cured, brined beef, apparently usually brisket. "Corn" is the name for the big pieces of rock salt.

Love corned beef sandwiches , with much HP sauce x

Corned beef hash is very simple in our house - boil potatoes, mash with butter, add chopped corned beef & mash some more. Put into oven proof dish and bake until top is crispy. As a fancy extra I top with sliced tomatoes before baking.
