Today I have discovered what a conservatory is for! Never wanted one, couldn't see the point, cold in winter, hot in summer. It has poured with rain pretty much non stop here today and apart from our walks, Joy and I have spent the day in the conservatory listening to the rain. How soothing and therapeutic! I have always loved being in a tent in the rain ( as long as it's not also blowing a gale) and also enjoyed the sound of the rain on the roof of my boat. The conservatory is equally good and we have had a very tranquil afternoon snoozing, reading, eating a pig's ear ( Joy) and sharing fruit.

Yes that exactly. We liken our conservatory to a boat or our tent. Love to sit in it when it’s raining and hear the rain on the roof. Our conservatory is so well positioned - it never gets too hot like some do; we have oil heaters so it can be used when cooler - it’s quite big too so we can have friends and family in there - many an afternoon tea held in there. Love it.

We're going home on Friday! I can now walk Joy, do shopping and cook properly again, so I feel the time has come to head back where we belong! Guy and Jenny are driving up to Northumberland on Friday for a short holiday and they'll drop us back at home on the way. I had my second Physio appointment today and found out that I had missed an appointment with the Consultant yesterday. It turns out that the letter was sent to my home address, despite them having my brother's address. Wouldn't you like to think that someone might have thought ' Oh! That's a long way to come for a hospital appointment, what's going on here?' Anyway the Consultant is away for a week now. The physiotherapist I saw said she thought the consultant would be reluctant to discharge me without having seen me.I pointed out that she would be discharging me to the care of another consultant and added that this must surely be fairly standard practice. She replied 'Well yes, but she's understandably nervous about discharging to a consultant she doesn't know' Eh? What?! I mean people with far worse injuries than mine are transferred to different consultants, sometimes by air to different countries. Nottingham to Calderdale can't be that worrying can it? Anyway, I kept my Calm Nurse head on ( took a leaf out of Mags's book from yesterday!) and said I would liaise with the consultant's secretary. I have now done that, and all that remains is to ring my GP first thing on Friday morning to get an appointment to be referred to a Calderdale consultant. Not quite sure why this can't be done without using up a GP appointment, but there you go. Really looking forward to being home again now!

That’s good news @Candy. Your brother and SIL sound like they have been really supportive and welcoming but there is no place like home and GGJ will be pleased to be back with her doggie friends. Take it easy though
