Out for two hours with GGJ today. Have found that if I remove my sling I can get my small rucksack on, then replace the sling. Also can now tie my bootlaces again. Giant leaps in the right direction! Took a slightly different route from yesterday so Joy could have a swim and detoured back via Linby, a pretty village where you can put money in an honesty box for locally grown asparagus. Two bundles purchased and carried back in the rucksack. Joy is now snoozy. Me too. A most satisfactory morning!

What I was trying to say was that as he left for work today, little brother called over his shoulder ' There are 15 bottles of wine being delivered today' all good so far but then I could have sworn he added 'Can you pump them into the pond'!
Given the recent doorbell/telephone confusion my feeling is that it might Be as well to hang fire on this one until he gets home this evening!

Explored a bit further afield today and found this, which was interesting and very much a work in progress towards reclaiming what must have once been a very industrial landscape. A rather weird and wild view on a wet and windy day.

My father in law used to work at the colliery before he moved back to South Shields. The council made a lot of the closed open pit mines around Nottingham into wildlife reserves. Nice to know nature can take over the industrial terrain!

I think I heard that the colliery my Nottinghamshire relatives (grandad, gt grandad & gt gt grandad) worked at is now a golf course.
Still a haven for wildlife though, a bit different to being a pit.

There's one like that in the park near where I live. Just as well, because it's sometimes a two-handed job to put the bags in the bin as the lid has been off its hinges for ages!

That IS clever.
Never easy with one hand.
I have often done that thing where you lift and swing with the one hand. Then have to bend down and pick up your bag cos it missed
