Oh yikes Lisa, that's so hot! Poor Simba and that thick coat of his 😳 I have a school friend in Vancouver who was telling me that they're expecting temps in the 40s tomorrow. Unseasonable temperatures everywhere, it's frightening. We're still in the mid-teens here most days, which is lovely but also too warm for winter.
Yes, there’s a ā€œheat domeā€ over pretty much all of Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest in the US. It will be hotter in BC. Not good news on the forest fire front, that’s for sure.

Warm and sultry here for us.

@Lisa Whenever we have been in such high temps we have been on holiday, can't imagine working in it.
We struggled immensely with a couple of weeks at 30o a few years back. Mind you nobody has AC here.
Yeah more people have it here now than used to, but really it’s a luxury. It would only be used a few days a year, if that. Of course those who have it now are very happy!

@Lisa - That is seriously hot when you (a) aren't used to it and (b) don't have air-con.

We have the opposite problem here. We have heaters for winter but any room that doesn't have one is freezing. Don't talk to me about getting out of the nice warm shower! It was 15 degrees here today and that is cold for us, especially with wind-chill. Inside the house it was much colder. Thankfully I have an air-con unit in the dining room where I work and it was on all day and I had a long sleeve t-shirt, a jumper (pullover) and a fleece on!

This is insane. A town in BC reached 121F yesterday, 45 degrees ABOVE its previous highest temp of 77F. Insane!

We are melting here, too, but it’s not as extreme. But 36C here today and tomorrow. I’ve never seen it this hot for so long. Thankful for fans, that’s for sure. At least it’s not too humid here.

Dear God, that is 49.5 degrees celcius. In Canada. I can't believe it @Lisa

I read yesterday that sadly there have been some deaths in Canada from this heat wave :(

Yes. In Vancouver they are averaging 20 unexplained deaths -attributed to the heat - per day. At the height of COVID they had 10 unexplained deaths/day attributed to COVID.

It’s so weird here. Not one cloud in the sky. For days now. That is SO strange. We live near to a mountain range and while we can have cloudless skies, it usually doesn’t last a whole day never mind for days on end. And it’s windy! So to have no clouds plus a wind….I’ve never seen that in my life.
It’s 35C right now…so hot. Kept the pooch in this afternoon while I went to work. Thankfully there’s AC there although it wasn’t working great. No AC at home, though. I left a fan on for him. He was fine when I got home.
I took Simba for a walk this morning before work while it was bearable at 21C. Not a long one but it was something. No walks at lunch or this evening, though. Just too hot.
:whew:

You are perfectly describing our typical summer weather. Except last summer was cool and wet. The world is turning upside-down :(

I hope you are ok and can get through this without air-con. I can't fathom it. I hope you don't have humidity on top of the heat?

Humidity hasn’t been too bad, thankfully. Today, which will likely be our hottest day, it is at 45%, which is pretty high for us. So, yay. Not to mention it is Canada Day and my OH is in a parade and I have to drive him in his convertible. The only good thing is that we don’t have to go anywhere else today, which would mean driving for up to an hour on the highway in the convertible, doing another parade and then driving home. I was dreading that in this heat.

I honestly think that the last time I saw rain this heavy was in Kenya, during a tropical type storm. It lasted for four days! We were there on holiday and I read the whole of 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell', never seen rain like it before although the novelty did start to wear off somewhat.
