Also the time that we had to take it in turns to hold onto our bottle of wine because the sides of the tent were blowing in so much they threatened to knock it over. I said to Trevor 'Well, no-one could accuse us of being fair weather campers! It doesn't get much more extreme than this!' Thoughtful pause.......then his reply, 'Er, ......they do actually camp on Everest you know, love!' OK, point taken! :cwl:

Brings back memories (I would rather forget....) of camping in my childhood.
I remember one very wet trip to North Wales when we sat through 2 showings of Lost Horizon - in the days they were on a loop - just to get out the wet.
It was the week of trying to get everything dry and packed away afterwards too. Tent in back garden for a fortnight waiting for sun, numerous things scattered around the house.
*shudder*
Give 5 star en suite any day πŸ˜‚

lost it to extreme winds in
Sounds scary!

This was us nearly 11 years ago. We still talk about it and it makes us laugh πŸ˜‚ . That tent was just fabulous - we went on to use it many more times but eventually lost it to extreme winds in 2017 when we had to rescue ourselves and Sky and 6 month old Red
Happy days

Oh, that's had me laughing out loud! All so very familiar, from the swinging lantern, to the lashing and sheeting rain, the occasional muttering of 'madness!' and the slightly hysterical laughter. Happy memories indeed!:cwl:

When my OH and I were very young and had no money we went camping in Scotland to a beautiful place called Scourie. Well you can guess what happen. The weather was terrible, the wind was so bad we had to take stones off the farmer field wall to hold down the tent. The rain nearly wash us away. Happy days :giggl:

I can't fathom snow this close to your summer @Charlie!

The weather is foul here - has been for two days. Sideways rain, howling wind and it's cold. Well maybe not cold Northern Hemisphere style but cold for us! The forecast is for this weather to pass tomorrow and back to nice sunny autumn weather on the weekend. I get depressed if I don't see sun for more than a couple of days.
