Crikey, what a stinker today. It was only supposed to be 30 but it got up to 33. I jumped in the car to go to the shops and had to sit there for 5 minutes with the air-con going full blast before I could touch the steering wheel or the seatbelt buckle

Poor Maxx doesn't like it and has been doing a lot of this. The air-con is on inside now so he will come alive soon

Yes, Chewie has been lying on our bed under the aircon for much of the day. It's horribly warm... My mum is watching Rowan and she took him to a shaded water playground. Needless to say he had a blast.

They predicted 33 today but the thermometer in the car just now was 39. Mind you, the car has been sitting in the hot sun so it is elevated. Google tells me it's currently 36

There's a change coming tonight which will be great. We have a wedding tomorrow - Steve's best mate is getting married in Wellington (we were supposed to go but NZ slammed the border shut) but as we are attending via Zoom we still need to dress up - top half at least! Much better if it isn't stinking hot, especially for Steve in a long sleeve shirt and tie (and Jacket during the ceremony and while he is giving his best mans speech)

What a different world we live in now. Steve is totally gutted that he can't go and I was looking forward to having a catch-up with @Xena Dog Princess and Xena

After a beautiful sunny day yesterday we have The Wind back, if anything stronger than before. Most of the Calder Valley walks are quite wooded, so it's difficult to find somewhere to walk in the valley bottom without fear of falling trees and I wasn't going to head up to higher ground in winds like this, so we settled for a couple of hours of games and swimming from a local field where we could stay in the middle away from the trees. We again saw a lot that had been blown down :'(.
Thisafternoon I watched a young couple trying desperately to push a pram along the street against the wind. In the end the mother put him/ her under her jacket and the father folded the pram up and carried it. All the windows and doors are creaking and squeaking and I'm so glad I haven't got to go out again today. I shall be lighting the stove soon and hoping it's a bit calmer tomorrow. I quite enjoy the odd spot of wuthering but this is actually quite scary to be out in!:scared:20220201_103454.jpg

That wind does sound frightening @Candy but what a glorious sunset

We must have switched countries overnight. Today it is drizzling, windy and the temperature has dropped more than 10 degrees. I'm sitting here with the windows open and feeling a bit cold!

We have wind, wind and yet more wind! Also torrential rain interspersed with moments of sunshine when I think 'It's clearing up at last!' Only for the rain to start again! My main worry is that I have some work on the house starting tomorrow which involves a scaffolding tower! Mark ( my marvellous shed builder who's carrying out the work) is convinced that the wind will be over by tomorrow but I've lived here much longer than he has and I'm not so sure. Fingers crossed for a quieter day tomorrow :fingers:
