Just after 9am today, J had gone up the mountain to work, I was settled down at my computer when all hell broke loose. A bird landed on our terrace and Squidge and Shadow jumped for it. Their combined force on the middle of the big window shattered it into a million pieces. I roared, chucked them into the bedroom and called J in a panic. There were shards of glass all over the living room, with loads more hanging precariously from the frame. He managed to contact one of our neighbours to come and help while I checked the dogs. The girls were all fine, but Shadow’s foot was bleeding quite badly. I cleaned it, chucked a quick dressing and vet wrap on and our neighbour and I sorted out knocking out the remaining glass and trying to clear it all up. I checked on Shadow’s foot and it was still bleeding a lot, so called J back and he was luckily able to come home from work.
We’re just on our way home from the vet; the boy has one bandaged foot, and one foot with three staples, a bandage, and a boot. Lead walks only for the next ten days; he’s going to go out of his mind.
I’m so glad it wasn’t worse as it could have been catastrophic. I’m hoping that my computers and everything are still there when I get home, having left the place wide open!
Hopefully we should have a replacement glass unit delivered and fitted by this afternoon, and we’re back at the vets every three days until he’s fixed.
Not quite the Thursday morning I was planning!
On the plus side, as the vet was sticking Shadow’s bum with a needle of ABs he was cooing over how muscular he is. Shadow was less than impressed that the scales read a mere 23kg, and is insisting he needs more rations, even if he is on restricted exercise.
