What made you smile today?

I heard this afternoon @Candy, that they have found a care home in Malvern (where I live) for his 4 week assessment and he is being moved tomorrow morning! It happened all of a sudden! They did intend to send him to Birmingham a couple of weeks ago, not realising that was 48 miles away from me! I am looking at a more permanent care home tomorrow morning for the future. Poor Mike, I feel so sad for him.

Very relieved it is so close, it could have been miles away! I had a look at another care home this morning, seemed very pleasant with beautiful views over the garden and common. Twice the price of the one he has been placed in and twice as nice, though the room Mike has is very light and when he lies in bed he can see part of the Malvern Hills. I popped in to see him, he had only been there about an hour and was eating lunch, a bit away with the fairies, I don't think he realises yet what is happening.

@Jelinga , I do understand how you are feeling, it must be hard, but at least Mike is close by , and because much stress will be removed for you , your visits will be more pleasurable , for both of you . It is a period of transition for you both , but a positive one where Mike will have professional help on hand and you will not have quite the worry, bless you xx

I hope you are right @Jacqui-S, I am worried in case he 'collapses' again and he is back in hospital. I don't think I would bring him home as it would remind him what he has lost. Had a phone call from vicar who apologised for not visiting him in hospital, he said he couldn't cope with the terrible traffic and the stress of trying to park, so I am not the only one who found it very stressful and I had to go for 2 months!

I've had a lovely evening attending the first meeting of a new community choir being run to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. There weren't many of us there but we had a good sing and we hope numbers will gradually increase. A friend (music teacher) is kindly giving his time unpaid to be choir-master and we are paying £5 each week to attend so apart from hall hire all the money will go to the charity. I think it's such a great way to raise funds - I'd far rather support this than sponsor endurance activities. The idea is also that if we get good enough we can sing in public and take up a collection too.

Oh, this sounds super @Joy - what a great way to raise money and have fun. I hope your numbers burgeon and you get some public gigs ;)
