What made you smile today?

My dogs butt-tucking around in the woods this morning. The cold weather and dry leaves on the ground make them go all silly!
Oh, I need to go find some dry leaves soon - Willow goes really silly in them! All our woods here are pine, which is rubbish when you just want to kick up the leaves, so we'll go into the fruit farms and see what we can find :)

Last night.... our aging cat cuddles up on Monty's front paws. We were in bed reading, and Monty was between us, head nt far from the pillows. Jess jumps up and starts walking all over us, craving fuss and strokes. She settled on Monty's front paws while I stroked her ears. at one point he flopped his head down into her back. He is such a lovely, gentle dog with her - still occasionally gooses her if he's a bit excited or she flies past him, but really couldn't wish for anything better.

Now, if only she really liked him, rather than just putting up with him. He would groom her all over and get rid of all her knotty bits.

Oh my god 😭😭

Rory has been trying to crawl. We only had laminate downstairs so I’ve been taking him up to practice. Now we’ve got the rug I put him down to try.

And Stanley got down and showed him how to do it 😭 it’s a rubbish video because I was too in awe to really film it but he was showing him what to do then nudging him and looking back at him.

He’s such a good boy ❤

Seeing poor little Joy in her horrible big collar today has brought back a memory of Solstice which has made me smile.
After her cruciate ligament surgery she had to spend quite a bit of time in this very same collar and we realized that she couldn't reach her ears to scratch them, poor girl. So every time she tried to scratch an ear either Trevor or I would give it a good rub for her. As time went on she took to scratching her ears with increasing frequency. To start with we thought that we must just be rubbish scratchers by dog standards but then we became worried that she might have an ear infection. We couldn't smell anything that seemed like an infection but still we took her back to the vet just incase. The vet had a good look. No infection whatsoever, lovely clean healthy ears. He asked us to explain again why we thought there might be an infection and he laughed and said 'I think she just likes you rubbing her ears and has worked out how to make that happen!'
This was before I'd discovered this forum and before I'd heard the term Monkey Butler, but yes! That was who we were to Solstice!:laughdog:

I spent a couple of hours at my parents' house yesterday helping them declutter a bit. For this first time in nearly a year, my dad was wearing normal slippers. Some of you may remember I had to rush off to Sicily last year when he fell and broke his hip and wrist. When he was eventually flown back home, he spent a further 2,5 months in hospital, where he got gangrene in his heel and toe. An operation a few days before Christmas cleared some veins in his legs. This appeared to work, but in June he was back in for a further operation to clear other blockages in his legs as the gangrene wasn't healing.
Finally, this week he has finished with his boot and is wearing normal shoes, quite a big deal for him. He's not walking anywhere near as well, or as far as he did before the fall, but given his huge long list of health issues, wearing 2 shoes is quite an achievement 12months on!
